GUITARS GONE WILD! [EDIT 01-12-05] new mix & no effects

Had to remove song "Guitars Gone Wild" for remixing. In the
meantime, check out Highway 93. Has single, double and
triple lead guitar breaks, includes some cool flanger leads too.
The double and triple leads are harmonized.

BrentB6 - Thank you very much for taking the time to listen
and for posting your comments. As for coming off as not
being modest, please disregard it. It's just when i hear
something that sounds good to me i get somewhat overly
excited and it ends up coming out in words. I will take your
advice and try to hold it in when I post from now on and see
what kind of response i get. By no means was i trying to
insinuate that I or the musicians I play with are better than
anyone on this forum. I'm new to posting music on forums,
actually this is the first musician forum I've ever posted
on. I've been checking other artist/bands out on here
and yes there is unbelievable talent on this forum. I'm
glad i found the place. Again, thanks for posting and
your kind words. I'm sorry if my posting came off
the wrong way to you and any others.

    Best Regards,

    Pluto,

I'm listening to Guitars Gone Wild.

First of all, the recording is very noisy and seems a bit distorted. The tone you're using most of the time is really clashing with the rest of the music. I love the tone around 1:30.

It seems like you're not real comfortable with your ability and your hiding behind that odd over flanged tone. You can play! There's no doubt in my mind. I'd just try to play the leads in this song with a straight Marshall tone. I'd really love to hear it done right.

Don't hide behind a bunch of effects. Get it out there.

    Cudos,

    Mark.

Listening to GGW now. VERY distorted mix. Most of it seems to be in the lead guitar... and I'm not talking about the kind of distortion that is good. Drums could use some variation, but then you know that...you used to play drums. Right?
Some nice licks in this track...keep working on your mixes, and be sure when tracking that your levels are not distorting.
    Take care...

The best is always yet to come. Now...shut up and make some noise!

mwalter - I have to admit i got carried away with the flanger but
there's something about flanger leads that i like once in a
while. What I did was double tracked 2 different leads together
which gave it the illusion that one lead had over effects.
But there are two totally different leads playing together in
some of those main lead guitar breaks and it made it sound like one
lead had too much effects, when in reality you were hearing two
different leads playing together. It was just an experiment. I'm
gonna take out some of the leads playing alongside the other and
leave a little flanger on and then tell me what you think. As for
the Marshall sound, I already have that. Check out the version
Highway 93 Scorcher original mix at the very bottom of my page.
There's very little effects on the main guitar leads, just a tiny bit
of delay... they are true clean heavy leads. Would love to hear
your comments on this one. Appreciate the advice and your
    post.

Sonic - Thanks for the heads up. The distortion came
from 2 leads playing alongside one another. I think all
i have to do is take out some of the leads playing alongside
each other and reduce the flanger and that might fix it
i don't know but i'm gonna give it try. Appreciate your comments.
    Thanks again.

Your new version is like night and day. Much Better. It is easier to hear the subtle nuances in the guitar playing such as subtle bends, pick attack, and pinch harmonics. I won't comment to much on production because it is something I am still learning. I think this is very good and enjoyed the new version much more.

    Pluto,

Now that's what I'm talking about. Soooo much better. I can actually hear your playing. Which is excellent. I still love that chordal tone, ala Eric Johnson. Drums are a bit monotonous. But, they're still better than mine.

    Very nice job.

BrentB6 - Thanks for giving it a spin. I'm happy you liked it.
I'm still learning production, too. I also added some left to
right panning in there on the one note lead in the middle,
not sure if you noticed, have to be in between two speakers
or have headphones to really hear it. Thanks again for
    the helpful advice.

mwalter - lol on the drum comment, yes i could've been more
tasteful just didn't wanna spend to much time on em cause i
knew i had my work cut out for me with all the guitar tracks.
I didn't even use any cymbols...lol, didn't want anything to
interfere with the guitar oriented philosophy of the song,
especially the harmonizing rythym guitar. Speaking of
drums, I'm gonna bring em down a bit in the next mix,
snare drum does stand out a little too much. Thanks
again for your time and the helpful comments. Much
    appreciated.
