Garritan Instant Orchestra

Just picked this up today.

I am impressed!

I've never reco'd any software before since I don't feel that qualified esp when it comes to orchestras.

With GPO you have to construct your own orchestra and that's a chore that's way beyond me. However, I do like GPO and like to use an orch once in awhile.

This software already has the orchs "built" for you. It also has many effects already applied to some choices. It fits right into the Aria player along side of GPO. It has great sound and choices. I've been screwing around with it all day.

For $150 you can't go wrong.

If you're a registered Sonar X1 user, GPO4 can be had from the CW store for $79.95:

It's called the "elite pack" but it's the full retail version sold everywhere else.

**EDIT:  I just realized the OP was referring to Garritan's new product, Instant Orchestra.

Oh well, I happen to like the original GPO4 and think it's a steal at $80 so if anyone else is interested, here's your link!

The UK pricing is 59.95 - that is almost a direct conversion at the current exchange rate plus 20% VAT. Did some one make a mistake? . We all know $ 80 normally comes out at at least 90 quid.

I had no idea it was going for that cheap in the UK.  The normal 'street" price in the U.S. is $140-150.  CW has been offering it as an $80 "elite" pack for X1; I just assumed they had made a special deal with Garritan.

Maybe the "Instant orchestra" is taking its place? Though, as a former Music minor in college, I'm surprised that "GPO Standard" (and a cheap laptop) is not a requirement for every Music composition major at every university in the world.  After all, they will need to know how to build ensembles (Even if the majority of graduates do end up waiting tables or selling insurance) .

FWIW-GPO4 does have a variety of "instant orchestras" if you use the ensembles. This does save a lot of set work so be sure to check them out.
