The GPO Group Buy has ended. The final tally was 1,307 copies sold.

Thanks to all from the Cakewalk forums who participated and made this a very successful group buy. And thanks to the admins and moderators also.

Wow, Harmony. Your favorite song must be "I want it all" (Queen)

Man, harmony, if you didn't get in on this one it would be so completely out of character for you. Either that, or I would have assumed that you already had a copy...

I know, right?? Believe it or not (I don't blame you if you don't believe it) but I have a few serious rap songs that require orchestration. Up until now they have sounded totally fake, but I have high hopes for this weekend!!!

I suppose it's because you began this post with "I know, right?", but.... I heard this whole paragraph in my head as read by Lindsey Lohan (of "Mean Girls", "Herbie: Fully Loaded", and huge knockers fame). So now I've got this image in my head of Patrick-as-Lindsey installing GPO....

Good news / bad news:

I just received GPO in the mail for the Group Buy. (woo!)

But it only has CDs 1, 2, and 3. The fourth CD "slot" is empty.

Can anyone confirm how many CDs GPO is supposed to come with?

Thx

To answer my own post the fourth CD is just the Cubasis/Overture CD and is not included in the Group Buy, which is no biggie as far as I'm concerned.

How's that for getting your post count up (responding to your own post)?

What is the reason that they are not included? How did it come US mail?

It came USPS mail.

Here is what I received from GPO tech support:

Hi David,

Please read the rules. This Group buy was a special version: The rules
for the Group Buy state: " * This is a special version of Garritan Personal Orchestra that does not include Cubasis VST and Overture."

You are not missing the fourth CD. It just wasn't included as part of the group buy.

Of you guys that have already received it, do you remember what the group buy was at when you joined? I got in when it hit around 800 and have not received it yet. Not that I am complaining, I'm more curious than anything.

THanks.

In the immortal words of Mae West,, too much of a good thing is wonderful! ;) At the end of the day, I couldn't resist a good deal. I think GPO will be a nice addition. I'm still going to get Philharmonik,,, OMG!

You know, I was into all this stuff when it was so expensive. Who would have dreamed even 10 years ago that you could get so much for compairitively so little. When I bought my original DX7, which was my first synth, it was like $1600, and around $70 for a cartridge with 64 cheezy sounds.

I bought a Roland TR707 for around $450,,,, lol. That's more than I'll pay for Philharmonik and GPO, now. It's simply amazing how the value has gone up, since softsynths arrived on the scene.

My Atari 1040 ST with the Hybrid Arts program was somewhere around $1800, and it had 1 Meg of Ram, and no hard drive!!!!

GPO is less than I would spend to go to a Packer game, and I'll have it a lot longer,,, lol.
