GearFest - heading there now

If anyone is going to GearFest, let me know... and we can meet/talk for a bit.
Trying to make it to Craig's seminar (we'll be arriving right about that time).

Best Regards,

Stuck in Florida. I would like to make one of those but never have.  A retiree friend from Indiana, Son in law's brother is the private pilot for Sweetwater's owner.  He has a desk next to my sales rep, Patrick Dennis.

    Jealous

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

    Always walk away inspired...
Had a good time at last night's All-Star jam.

Said hello to Mr Paul Reed Smith.
Nice guy... and love the guitars.

I stopped by about a month ago. To be honest, I came away a little less than impressed. A good music store has more on display than what I saw.

Never been to Gearfest, but Sweetwater is a cool place to visit. Was there a few years ago. Toured all through their many offerings. I am sure Gearfest will be a great time!

FWIW, In each room, there are large video terminals where you can look up items that are in stock.
Most of the more expensive items are kept in the warehouse.

If you've been to GearFest, going into the Guitar Room that Friday/Saturday is like being at GC on a weekend (multiplied by 10).  A constant barrage of "kids" banging away on guitars/amps.
This year, I asked a sales-rep to pull three guitars from the warehouse... and asked to audition them side-by-side in an isolated space.  I told the rep that we weren't in a hurry (wanted to go to Craig Anderton's workshop and that we'd stop back an hour later).  When we stopped back, they set me up with a small amp... in a conference room... with all three guitars.  Don Carr popped in (great guitar player) and commented on the guitars.
Chose my favorite of the three... and negotiated a very reasonable price.

Even with the tremendous amount of floor space, with the volume of gear they have, there's no way it could all be on display.  IMO, It's better for it to be tucked away... until specifically requested.
Was at our local GC once... when someone knocked over a Derek Trucks signature SG (fell flat on its face in the Platinum Room).  This person then placed the guitar back on the stand... and walked away.
Having to ask to see a particular piece of gear *is* an inconvenience.
IMO, completely worth it... to ensure the gear is in pristine condition.

Was there both days and saw/said hi to Jim.  Both of Craig's workshops were fantastic (even if they weren't in Sonar).  Adrian Belew's Jam on Friday was cool and there were also some other really cool workshops.  I am already looking forward to next year.
