Gee, I can't imagine why their businesses failed...
Because I have a business in Washington, I received an email about some sales tax rate changes in the very few areas that have a sales tax in the state. Some dipstick does a reply all to say that his business is closed and to take him off the list. That, of course, causes three other dipsticks to do a reply all for the same reason. Now the people they want to reach, are NOT in the email list, and there's an entire area at the bottom that says "If you want to be removed from the list click this unsubscribe link [followed by a link]." It's no wonder their businesses failed! [Edit: Make that FOUR other dipsticks! This email has become hotter than most of our forum topics! Idjits.]
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

Actually more than five (and, no, I wasn't counting Beagle). Now some advertiser in the UK has gotten involved and is emailing one of the dipsticks who replied - WTH??!

I've been trying to remove me from my own list for years now. I'm so stubborn at times. I might just change my handle to DaveZeroZeroZero.

I had to write a delete rule. There have been no less than 15 emails now and not one person has actually read the flippin' original email where it says "Responses to this message are not monitored."

Fixed.

This happens a couple times a year at work. Someone sends out a mass mailing to a large group of departments. Then the "Reply All"s start coming back..."I am no longer in that department", "Please remove me from the list", etc. Then others send "Reply All" messages to tell the others NOT to "Reply All". And on, and on. Takes a day or two to finally settle down.

Yep, over 40 dipsticks and an amazing number with C-level titles (like CEO, COO, CFO, etc.). None of them read I guess... Glad I wrote that delete rule! Though it still beeps through to my phone for each one...

This made me think... Wouldn't it be great if Bapu could have access to a "Reply All" button that allowed him to post the same thing to all 302602 (and counting) threads currently on the forum at once? Yeah. I think that'd be pretty great.

We had one that went on for weeks! People returning from vacation would set it off again. I think there were around 600 emails before it died.

We all got an apology email from the WA gov DOR (Department of Revenue) for the email mess. Instead of blaming the guy who didn't read the dang thing, they threw an IT guy under the bus. Figures. HE didn't do anything wrong either!

They'll probably hire another manager or two to keep an eye on those pesky IT guys.
