Geist 2 Layer FX Question (multi-select/apply changes to all layers)

In both Geist and now the Geist 2 demo I cannot figure out something I *think* is possible, but I cannot seem to figure out how to do it. Say I have a pad with 8 layers, and want to add an effect to 3 of the 8, each time I do an add/modify function it only takes to the first layer selected (or currently active layer, depending). I have tried the "apply changes to all layers" but also only takes to the active layer. This is the most complex variation...

A simpler example... I have a pad with 8 layers (totally raw) and want to add/modify/remove FX from all 8 at once. How would I do this?

Simpler, more practical example... I have all 8 layers loaded to the hilt and want to select them all to "delete chain" from them... I cannot find a way other than one at a time.

It is quite possible I am getting too deep into the weeds, since the "all or nothing" scenario could be done with a buss, but I have not used the internal mixer to a great extent.

Any thoughts on this is most appreciated.
