o.k. that helps some  its software for workstations. now guitar trackspro-3 is it sonar or pro tools or ?what  I am using an hp-42 laptop 3.00gm ,guitar trackspro-3,amplitube-le,ableton-le,intone guitar express,an m-audio fast track usb.do I need to download drivers someware to get all of this to work togather. or a rewire of some kind?

SONAR & ProTools are two totally different DAW's.  All those applications you list, Amplitube, Ableton, etc.. are each their own program and they all do different things.  The M-audio Fast track is your audio interface and is used to get your instrument into the program.  Not familiar with Intone Gtr Express, but I see that its an FX processor.  So you likely can use that as a plugin within Guitar Tracks.

As far as drivers go, you need to check each program as they all have their own set of requirements.  There are audio drivers that the Fast Track will use, which is probably ASIO drivers (double check that tho, i'm just guessing).  Rewire is something totally different and is protocol -or a way to get files from from one application to another.  This page is super for checking on Rewire:

http://en.wikiaudio.org/Category:Rewire

That is an awful lot of programs to try to master at one time Lenny.  In all honesty just one can take weeks or months to get a decent handle on how it works.  I would strongly suggest starting with Guitar Tracks if that's going to be your main DAW.  Once you get a feel for how it works, start slowly with the other applications.

There is much, much information available on all of these things you mention, all you have to do is look for it.  Google is an amazing tool when utilized!  Try it.

Hi I am a newbie. I installed sonar X1 producer. I have been mainly focusing on session drummer 3. I have a problem with the bass distorting. Been turning down all volumes for the past few weeks trying to find what is causing it. Is this the reason everyone gets a sound card?

Welcome to the forum.
This thread is just an informational thread announcing the Get Started forum. It would be better if you click the Post New Thread button on the upper left and start your own thread.
But yes, an audio interface designed for recording is desirable for greatest recording satisfaction.
And please provide info about your computer, OS, current sound card, and what your audio settings are. It will help us help you.

Hi All, When I installed Producer Ex, I didn't install Session Drummer 3, but now I'd like to. However, I can't find the installer. Can someone please tell me where it would normally be? I have the download version; the only boxed set I have is 8.5.

New to X1, had sonar studio 7 and no problems.  Now have new interface, Scarlett (Focusrite) USB.  It is like sonar is not picking the signal up at all .  Windows 7 laptop, Dell, very new Latitude. I am sure it is drivers and driver settings.  Any help would be nice.

markt747 - You posted this at the end of an unrelated post.  You might have better luck creating a new post to ask your question.  Not many people will be looking here.

Re: Get Started Setting Up My VS-100 in Sonar VS Please Help 2013/06/27 01:21:29 (permalink)
I have been reading help files and manuals all day.
I am trying to set up the hardware VS-100 with the software Sonar VS.
I want the ACT controllers mapped so that I can use them.  At the moment I can at times get a sound from the play and stop hardware buttons but I wish them to behave as play and stop buttons.

Please assist.

I have never Midi mapped a set of controllers before and do not know the names of which one should be what and so forth.

I have the ACT button lit.
I have Sonar selected as the DAW.
I have DAW Full Assign on.
I updated the firmware to V1.5

I run Win7.

I have a 49key midi keyboard going into the VS-100 midi in.  It is a Roland PC-200 MkII  that doesnt seem to get any response in the software.

Ummn I don't know what to do.

Welcome to the forum.
This thread is an anouncement of the (then) new Getting Started forum from Cakewalk.
Unfortunately, not a lot of folks check this forum.
Try posting a new thread in the VS 100 forum, or the controller forum.
You may get some pertinent replies there.

Hi,
I just started installing X2.  I already have VS, 8.5 and X1 installed.  I am running as administrator, have all other (I think...) programs killed, but I am getting problems when the first DVD is installing C+++.  I am given the option to abort, retry, or ignore.  I went with ignore (which came up twice).  Seems to be ok.  Any thoughts, clues, prayers?

I couldn't find the appropriate forum for help with the forum itself.

I wanted to send a pm but a message pops up saying it's not set up in my account. Then it says click here for details and you have to be a member for more than 3 days (which I am) and have made a minimum of 25 posts (which I have).
From the options I see, there doesn't seem to be a way to turn pm on or off.

Anybody know why I can't send them?
Thanks!

So apparently, it says you need 25 posts. But actually you need over 25 posts to be able to PM. I had 25 posts exactly which it says is the requirement to be able to send PM's. It wouldn't work. Then I posted the question about it here, which brought my total posts to 26. Then I tried to use the PM function and it worked.

Hello all im new....never fear tho i do have some knowledge working with a Daw's so you wont get any questions like howcome i cant hear my midi? None of that.Basically im hear a new sonar user as a twist of fate where just last weekend i was cleaning and found a cd that said cakewalk i install it come to the sight see theres a sale for reg users and hear i am :) This is my first venture Away from my other daw an im prity pleased at what ive found, just how easy it is to keep things organized.not that im not still in love with my other daw for creating sounds and writing loops and melodies but the way you arrange in its playlists well lets say disorder Is putting it lightly. ..but anyway sofar im very happy with what ive seen and figured out sofar and once ive grown more comfortable with the x3 workflow i hope to hear share and colab with all of you on this forum
