Getting a BCA2000 to talk to music creator

I recently acquired both a BCA2000 and Cakewalk music creator, I managed to resurrect an X32 system so I'm working on a clean install of windows. I have a signal through the USB to the PC as I can record a signal with windows sound recorder but I have several problems. 1 I can't hear what I'm playing through the PC even though I'm recording it. I suspect this has something to do with the realtek drivers that came with HP but I'm not sure of that. 2. I can't record in cakewalk through the bca2000. I don't think the device is talking to the software at all. Anyhelp here would be appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum.
Which Music Creator program do you have?
Have you gone to Behringer's web site and dpownloaded and installed the latest drivers for the BCA? Their info reads that ASIO drivers are available for XP.
In MC, under Options>Audio, what is listed for both Playback and Recording (Device) Timing Masters?
What drivers and driver mode are selected?

I'm using music creator version 2, I do have the latest drivers installed from behringer.  And I don't see a timing master, but I have playback wave device as BCA2000 1/2 and Recording Wave Device as BCA2000 1/2. If I set my playback to the realtek I get some sort of error. And my driver mode is listed as WDM/ KS

The BCA ia an audio interface.
Don't use the RealTek at all. In fact, if you're using the ASIO drivers, you will not be able to use the RealTek. Maybe that's the error message.
MC 2... is that MC Pro 24? That's about the time Cakewalk began ASIO support. Maybe MC 2 can't use ASIO?

Sounds like you're trying to use all old gear. Nothing wrong with trying to save money..... but times have changed a bit since MC2....  A buddy of mine has that.....

The upgrade to MC5 with the latest advances and midi instruments is only $40 from the local stores.

You should also look at upgrading to a dedicated interface rather than using the realtec.

To use midi (as opposed to audio) you need to insert a synth and assign a sample or a patch to be played.

That's what the BCA 2000 is, Herb. He needs to install and use Behringer's ASIO driver.
