Getting a good Guitar sound.

Hello,
I am looking for some advice. My set up is basic and includes the following, a boss GT-6 guitar fx,  Focusrite saffire 6 usb, a behringer mxb1002 mixer and two alesis m1 active mk2 monitor speakers. I also use Sonar x1 producer. My problem is, no matter what settings I make to my gt-6 and my mixer, I cannot get a decent sound or tone through my speakers. I am looking to get the same sound quality through my speakers as I would with plugging my guitar into a guitar amp. I would appreciate any advice anyone could give me, settings etc or perhaps an additional piece of software or external fx device. thank you.

You'd have more chance to get an answer in the Techniques forum.

There's a great section on this specifically in the video tutorial by Craig Anderton: SONAR X1 Advanced Workshop, chapter "Optimizing amp simulators". You'll find it in the Cakewalk E-Store.
