Ghost Notes

I was working on a project today with a friend using FL studio and it had a feature called ghost notes where you could see the notes of other tracks in the prv faintly behind the one you were working on.  It was pretty useful and I was wondering if there was any feature like this in xi that I may have missed.

Asus P8P67 pro, I7 2600K, 8G Kingston Hyperflex, 2 1T WD Caviar Black(sytem, audio), 2T WD Caviar Black(samples), RME Multiface, Roland A500 Pro, Windows 7 Ultimate 64, Sonar X1C, Ableton Live 8, Reason 6, Komplete 7, DCAM Synth Squad, Omnisphere, Stylus RMX, Trillian

Yes, you can do something similar in the SONAR X1 PRV. With multiple tracks showing in the PRV, you can click the Enable/Disable Track Editing button (the white one next to the name of the track in the PRV track list). That will turn the notes for that track gray (or ghosted) while keeping active tracks in color.

thanks scott.  as always you are extremely helpful.  I also learned so much from your book.  I read it cover to cover and definitely enjoyed it.  It now has a home right next to my DAW and I reference it constantly.

    Hey Chad...

No problem... glad I could help. And thanks! I'm glad to hear that you took the time to read the entire book cover-to-cover and that you're getting a lot of use out of it. I definitely recommend reading it completely at least once because that's the best way to get the most out of it.

It sure is.  I am actually starting to slowly read through it a second time.  There is so much information in the book it would be impossible to retain it all in one read through unless you had a photographic memory maybe.  The ghosting notes proves that as after I got home I checked your book and there it was in the piano roll view section.  Thanks again Scott.  This is my second manual of yours I read and I would definitely not hesitate to read another.

Do you have any plans for a book on the new sound forge?  thinking of adding it to my arsenal and a book by you would come in handy if I did

    Hi Chad,

Not sure at the moment, but it's possible.

    Thanks!
