I guess this has been a long time coming. For employees I guess it's a good thing that it is a chapter 11 vs 7 type of filing (Restructuring vs Liquidation).

OS:Win7x64 SP1 CPU:i5/8GB/SSD DAWs : CbB, FLS, SO2, (Reaper) etc. To much Gear, not enough wires.

This is sad news, I hope they can still make a go of it. Gibson's impact on Cakewalk was immeasurable and for that I am indebted. Thanks to Gibson and I hope you can restructure and get back into the game. Best to you!!!

Too bad. I guess they couldn't make it without SONAR. On another note, apparently Henry Juszkiewicz has been annoying his lenders for years now, and there's some doubt he'll be allowed to remain as CEO as the lenders assume ownership of the company. Again, too bad.

Wouldn't surprise me if Gibson Guitars portion of the company is bought by another company.

Maybe Meng can buy Gibson now? You never know. Meng has revived other brands before...

Whatever happens, the Gibson brand itself will survive this, they'll restructure, etc... it's an American institution, so it'll survive... but not all the brands that Gibson owns will make it through unscathed... unfortunately, it will be painful for a lot of people.

Having said that, it's good IMO that Cakewalk was bought by BandLab when it was, escaping the sinking ship before chapter 11 -- who knows how the bankruptcy process would have impacted Cakewalk... it might not have survived, or been delayed, or there would have potentially been a messy transition as someone else bought the Cakewalk IP -- as devs like Noel would have likely already moved on to other jobs.... Cakewalk might not have made it through with such flying colors as it has so far. Sort of a miracle that Meng was able to buy the Cakewalk IP and pick up key staff before they scattered...

Les Paul with a fender headstock

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.
