Acquire being the key word there. You usually don't see that word unless there's a bankruptcy- asset re-organization going on. I wish Cakewalk would re-acquire themselves and get the team back together. But who knows really. I'll sit here and look at my VS 700 system and throw the chicken bones tonight, in an effort to see into the future of Cakewalk, Roland, and Gibson.

TASCAM.

TASCAM acquisitions have a track record of failure.  software companies go to TASCAM to DIE.

(yes, I'm still bitter about Gigastudio!)

PLUS they still are just hit and miss on drivers for their hardware.  again.  they can't get the software right!

I cannot see this as being a good thing.  Nothing good will come from TASCAM's management of Cakewalk.

Hey this is the only other thread not locked out yet . Seems anybody posts in the main forum and it gets locked. There's a thread hiding in the old forum I also commented in... But I just wanted to see how Beagle feels! Ha ha now you'll have to say Tascams drivers are great .. just kidding.
It's not the end of the world, you have your software and now you'll never have to worry about upgrading! isn't that a good thing!

Most interesting is that Tascam Interface's shipped with Cubase LE.
So maybe the new Cakewalk will finally have wave editing :)

Haven't posted in a long time... been very busy...

My own experience with Tascam was also not exactly good (also spelled Gigastudio).  Hopefully they have gotten their act together, but I am rather nervous about it all.

In any case we will see.

Johnny - I'll probably move to PT or Cubase if I spend any more money on DAWs.  right now I don't have time to record much anyway.  to busy with live work.

Hi,

Not surprised ... you look at these forums and it's a nice advertising medium for the guitars ... and they make more money than some software company that has been around 20 years, and lost its heart and soul a long time ago.

One can only hope that the software improves ... given the comments here, it looks like most folks are not going to cry too long and a new toy comes along. They want you to buy the toys anyway!

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

Yep, all about those new toys. I've had a list of music gear I MUST HAVE since I was 7 years old ( truth) Owning a music store was the only way to slate my thirst! But software has always been low on my list even though I use it more than my EFX pedals. Actually nice new Dunlop 73 Nylon picks are higher on my list than software.

Perhaps Cakewalk can rescue Tascam on the driver and software front. I like Tascams hardware equipment, I have a few pieces.
