Gibson-Cakewalk - please give Steinberg and Prosonus codes for bundle opening

It would seem that there is a possibility of a class action lawsuit against Gibson.
I was thinking about what would be a fair settlement for those that paid for lifetime updates, etc?
It would seem that Gibson should work with Steinberg, Prosonus and perhaps others to make sure that their programs can open up a cakewalk/sonar bundle file.  Is that too much to ask?

LOL. Yes, this is too much to ask! Why would Gibson give away the code assuming they haven't already sold it? And why should Steinberg and Prosonus have to go to all the hard work of implementing that code and re-releasing just to provide support for obsolete software? Ridiculous! You didn't think this through did you?

Also, where is the info on this class action you mention?

Splat, Win 10 64bit and all sorts of musical odds and sods collected over the years, but still missing a lot of my old analogue stuff I sold off years ago.

This is why a lot of studios bounce there tracks to audio before mixing.
This is STANDARD for most studios.
So any other studio is able to remix the song after 10 years without having the synths.
The wav-files in the audiofolder can be imported into the most DAWs. But that is hard work.

Importing cwp files into an other DAW is never possible, because of the many other workflow and functions in an other DAW.
For example: Pro Tools has no VST-support.

    It's PreSonus.

Yes - we have checked PreSonus. A lot of functions in SONAR are not in Presonus.
I can develope programs. So I can say that 1 developer needs one year to make a simple import. ProSonus has a complete other structure of busses, tracks, insert effects. That looks the same - but is completely different. So after one year you get the audio and the midi and the volumen curves - but that would never sound the same. Forget it.

The code from SONAR is not helpful.
They have a complete other variable declaration and probably an other programming language. The code refers to fully other programm objects. A translation is impossible.

I remember discussing bundles with Noel some years back.

There is no special code to open a bundle. All that’s required is a version of Sonar. Now that we have an assurance that all legal owners of Sonar will be given a file to assist in activation should the servers pack it in we really don’t have any reason for petitions etc.

Just wait for the FAQ that Noel promised will come out once they have put together all necessary information.

We don't have any reason? You sure about that? I bought Sonar Producer on the subscription model. After a year, I would own it outright and could completely discontinue any subscription which would also discontinue any updates. Pretty straight forward and I was happy.

Then Cakewalk said hey if you upgrade and pay more, we'll give you Platinum with lifetime updates. There was lots of talk in that advertising about how updates came out every month and how they were constantly adding new features etc. What a deal right? Pay one price, get updates for presumably years to come. Myself and lots of other people bought based on those presumptions.

Now a year later Gibson says yeah, you know what? F**k all of you, we don't care what you bought or what you expected, we're not going to give you what we promised. If that ain't class action suit territory, I don't know what is.

If gear was the determining factor, we would all have a shelf full of Grammies and a pocket full of change.  -microapp
