Wow, that's an eye opener for sure Mike. I knew he was an incredibly talented drummer, but I never realised he was such a prick.

So, Mr. Baker. Would you classify yourself as a git, or more of a pillock?

I'll have to listen... he was good with Cream, Ginger Bakers Airforce, wasn't as good. I still have the LP. I haven't listented to it in decades.. maybe I'll lend an ear and see if it has gotten better. Ginger always looked like a prick... perhaps it has something to do with being a by named Ginger... sort of like a boy named Sue. LOL. Watched it. For someone who does not think, he seems to think very highly of himself... Perhaps if they had offered him more money he would have answered more stupid questions. I do wish he had found Jimi. J

Eh? He says in there he's a musician. No he's not - he's a drummer. A word springs to mind and I think it's against the TOS.

quantumeffect Apparently he is not a fan of Hawkwind. He said a long time ago it was the worst little rock band in the world! ... funny thing is the album he was on, was actually pretty good. "Levitation" Whatever his reasons for being an idiot, I would stop the whole thing ... he's not even thankful for his time in the limelight and I find that sad and pathetic, and above all ... ugly ... massively ugly ... and you have to be an idiot to even consider hiring him for anything ... let him live off the residuals and call it a night. That's one jerk I won't miss, and honestly? ... CREAM was over rated, and not as good as some of the other bands around Europe at the time. They were, however, the more famous band, because England and America were very good at the media thing, and they had already decided to show all those hippies, and how dirty and ugly they were, and above all ... how stoned they all were on drugs! They were just a pop band ... no big deal!

Cream was a great band. Jack Bruce comes across as an arrogant prick, too. No wonder Clapton had to get out of there.

I thing you need to look at the back storey to the film. The producer was a k nob, and the film was bad. Ginger only agreed to the film because he needed the money. I'm sure we've all done similar things in bad times. Why he ended up in such a bad way is another matter - perhaps unwise, or unlucky. But the film went sour, and he had to do the promotional stuff afterwards. If you think this video was bad, watch the promo film with the producer. He admits that at one point in filming that Ginger broke his nose. Ginger hardly speaks. Ginger is not the easiest of people to get on with, but the producer was after a sensational film, and got it, at Ginger's expense. I can see why Ginger was so arsey at the subsequent promo gigs. And bitflipper's right, Jack Bruce comes across as an arrogant prick, for one simple reason.. I'm not defending Ginger, just beware of falling for hype and sensationalism.

Musician? Prick? Who would have thought? Well, he's got the gold albums. He didn't seem that bad in the interview. I've seen worse. By people w/o the gold albums. @

And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

Clapton's an **** too. I still remember his horrible racist onstage ranting in the 70s, for which he was still refusing to apologise as recently as 2003. God, imagine being Cream's tour manager or something. Miserable.

bapu Ginger has probably been asked those same "silly" questions for 40 years now. And each person thinks they just "thought them up" for the first timer EVER!!!!! It is a serious issue all around these days, and you can see it all over the ProgArchives board ... you have these "prog" experts go ask a question or two and then one guy was lecturing Gary Green (Gentle Giant) about progressive music ... right after he had said that they didn't compose anything, they just played! I imagine that Ginger and many of those "famous" people are tired of the same old crap and questions, and it's hard to not take it personally when yet another idiot asks the same question ... so him being askew is not totally out of line ... but then, we made him a "god" and now we're complaining ... and that side of his personality was there before ... many times! If he can't appreciate his place in the whole music thing, he should retire, take off with the old lady and go visit the world and see a little sunshine and sunrain! Even Mick is nicer than that!
As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!
