Give It Up - REMIXED VERSION

Hi everyone , I'm posting this song as is for now . My CakeWalk Project 5 totally crashed on me in the middle of working on my bridge section so its not completely finished . I did get it back up and running but the catch is my keyboard will not play anything in Project 5 , talk about a BUMMER ! I'm not sure why or what happened when Project 5 crashed on me but I hope I can get my keyboard working in Project 5 .

http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11418111&q=hi&newref=1

Anyway this is what I have been working on lately , I wanted to ask Scotty if he would add some lead guitar to this song if he has some free time to spare .
If your interested Scotty I only need lead guitar in the second verse section and in the four chorus sections and in the end section which is very short .

Thanks for listening !

i like what you have so far here. the tune is excellent. i think the drum work is perhaps too acoustic sounding and too intricate, but that's prob more a taste thing...this need vocals or a lead clearly. great great soundscape though.

Hi Radio, very nice.  Need vocals and guitars.  Drums sound very good and I like their parts alot.  Cymbals are very hot (too hot?).

Thanks for the listen , I still have so fine tuning to do here and there and hopefully will get my keyboard working again in my software . I think when Project crashed on me it knocked out my keyboard software , I only see one light on and theres suppose to be two led lights showing which means I'll have to reinstall that software .
I agree vocals and some great sounding lead guitar would polish off the song , thanks for the listen & input .

Oh yea I see what your talking about , I was adding a smiley face but I forgot . Anyway thanks for the heads up . I just fixed a few Project 5 issues and have my keyboard working now .
Started working on my little eight bar bridge section and that seems to be working out , after I get that in place and do some more fine tuning with the cymbals I will update the song .

All the way to the left , thanks !

From what I can hear on the notebook (which isn't much?) the drums "dominate" the song. I can't really hear a melody? Or a hook, or much of the song, just the drums. And I would compress them a bit as well.

Thats where the guitar player comes in , I was hoping Scotty would have some time to mess with it some or someone else . All my tracks except for the drum tracks are compressed , thats the way I record & mix all my tracks except for drums tracks .

Thanks Janet , I was hoping for a guitar player to finish this song up . Some lyrics and vocals would be nice but I don't see that happening , I'm working on the bridge section now but for now it is what it is with high hopes a guitar player will join in with me on this tune .

    Thanks for the listen !

Hi Herb , would you like to add some guitar to my song " Give It Up " ?

How about Scotty , have any extra time to spare on my song ?

How about both of you together , now that would sound cool !

Very nice textures and melody.  This is going to be a monster when it's completed.  The only thing that comes to mind is that after listening to several songs on this forum for the last half hour, your overall volume is quite lower than most submissions.  I'm not into the volume wars, and I'm a firm believer in dynamics, but I think there's room for a boost without destroying the song.  However, if it stays as is, you've still done a heck of a job.

    All the best,

Hi Lynn , thanks for the postive comments and suggestions . Last night I made a few more improvements but haven't updated the song but I plan on doing that today .
I noticed in one of my chorus drum tracks this very small clipping sound , in one area in the drum pattern I was using so what I did was I swapped that out for a slightly different drum pattern that works much better and sounds better too .
I also swapped out some crash cymbals to improve those sounds as well and made a volume adjustment on  another track .
Scotty won't be able to mess around with it for two weeks or so but yea when he finished with it its going to sound even better .

    Thanks for the listen !

Just for the record I made some changes and remixed my song . I deleted the one drum pattern I was using in my chorus sections and replaced it with one that doesn't give me that clipping sound I was hearing before so that is fixed .
I also changed out some crash cymbals to give that a better sound and adjusted the volume levels there in that area .
Also monkeyed around with the volume levels in my bridge section and one track in the last two chorus sections .

Doing all of this and updating on SoundClick I bumped out my #3 spot where I had it posted , oh well it sounds much better now in my ears .

Thats my update , next update will be after Scotty finishes up with adding guitar to the song .

Thanks for all the listens !

    Hi, James,

This is really a terrific song with a killer groove, super sounding drum track, and a great electronica mix!  I could definitely picture this on the soundtrack of an action movie.

I can't wait to hear what Scotty adds to this, he's a dynamite guitar player and really brings a cool new dimension to songs that he plays on.

Great work, James, really good stuff!

I think it sounds great the way it is, no guitars. It's been awhile since I've recorded a song without organic instruments. I'm now motivated to create one, thanks Radio
