Daniel, this was beautifully recorded and mixed -- the arrangement is fantastic. Guitar was great -- the tone and the playing. At :55 that was a great sounding change -- very creative. And, your vocals are great. This is one of the few pieces on this forum that sound market ready -- I hope you get a lot of traction with your work. Allan =-=-=

Listening on headphones . . . the first "Give", right at the intro, that hard G really slams hard. The rest of the vocal seems well placed (a great performance!) but have you eq'd the bass out of the vocals? It has a kind of compressed telephoney effect. I wonder if you could add back some lower mids to the vocals? And to make room for that, you might lower the bass guitar volume just a hair, which I felt was a bit hot for this kind of tune. Toward the end of the song, your echo-y guitars are really trampling over the vocals - I wonder if some distance could be achieved through a little panning? All that being said, I think this is a great tune, a great vocal performance (nice bgv's as well!) and shows a heck of a lot of talent. Really well done! -Tom

This is a lovely song, and your production is impeccable. The synth textures are full without cluttering the aural space, your singing is confident and on point and the "Wicked Games" guitar adds perfect atmosphere. I suppose there's no point in asking about the horrible drum distortion in the first 40 seconds - you must have a reason for that, but you might want to take another look at it. It gets attention, for sure, but I'll bet you could find a different effect. Great job!

Hi, Thanks a lot for listening and commenting ! Allan, your feedback is given me confidence to continue. Thank you so much! Tom, super helpful critics! I wanted the overall sound to be slightly soupy in this tune actually, maybe it's a bit much. It is definitely worth to revise the mix for some final tweaks and probably one last round of manual de-essing. Larry, thanks for the compliment! The totally squashed drum intro was an experiment to start with. I got so used to it in mixing phase, I've never considered looking for something else anymore. I might find a more pleasing solution... Andy, glad you enjoyed it. Thanx! Again thanks for your positive feedback, gentlemen, it's highly appreciated ! Cheers, Daniel

Sounds good! The performances and arrangement are solid IMO. The only mix suggestions I would make would be to replace the distortion that Larry mentioned (doesn't seem to fit the vibe) and maybe widen the harmonies just a little bit.

Not sure whether to pipe in or not. I really liked the song...word and theme in pop, k.i.s.s. (I always make my lyrics too poetic.) Only elephant in the room for me was the drum track...it was hypnotic (if that's what you're going for) but a little too repetitive for my tastes. You have to ask yourself *what would jack dejohnette do?* :D:D

Thanks! ...the second comment about the drum intro ...I guess you guys have a point there. My plan for the panning was actually to have the guits hard panned L/R and the bvs closer together with the main voice... decisions, decisions, decisions...

Thanks for piping in : ) I considered to use an electronic drum kit at first, kind of 808ish, but then decided to use a brush kit and keep it as simple as possible. Yeah, Jack DeJohnette ... very inspiring
