Glitch VST does nothing?
Do I just have no idea how to use this plugin, or does it not do anything? I saw a video of it in action- it was pretty sweet. For me, the only knobs that change the sound are the Overdrive and Master Output. Anybody use it? Am I a moron? (don't answer that).

I suspect you aren't routing properly or setting it up proprely in Sonar. Are you trying to "trigger" it via MIDI ?

Be sure that the FX bins are not bypassed and that the FX is on.

John makes a good point to check. Like many MIDI controllable VST effects, they have to be handled different in Sonar than most other DAWS. In Sonar - go into PluginManager and find the dblue_Glitch in "Effects" and change it's properties to be "Configure as Synth". Then exit pluginmanager. In Sonar, insert Glitch into the FX BIN by right clicking in it and choose "Soft Synths" as opposed to "Audio Effects". Don't worry - it will work the same way. So choose Glitch and insert it as usual onto the audio track you want to effect. Play the track -- play with the knobs and you'll hear the effects (try different presets to see how it works). The manual isn't that big, so take it to the bathroom on your next sit-down ;) Glitch, along with The Finger and other such effects, are really fun plugins. Inserting as above you can also create a new MIDI track (NOT simple instrument track, just a plain old MIDI track) and point it to Glitch. Now you can use that MIDI track to 'trigger' / control Glitch even more. Have fun :)

i put it into the fx bin of an audio track. im not trying to trigger it via midi. so then i put an audio loop in the audio track that its inserted into. as the audio loop plays back, i play with all the dials abd buttons waiting for something to sound cool. only the od and gain knob change anything. what version is the best? can u recommend a download site that has a current, reliable version. also, i put the dll file in my vst folder, is that right?

some plugs need to be enabled as a tempo based effect. via plugin manager.

Yes, it's a VST so it goes in the VST folder for sure. THe latest version is 1.3 I think. But as another reply mentions, this needs to be configured as a "tempo based" effect. However, if you do as I said before, it will automatically be that because when you "configure as synth" an effect, it defaults to being tempo based as well. BUT if you don't want to make that change, you still have to go into pluginmanager and tell it to be "tempo based" in the plugin properties section. That should do it.

update: It works when I set it as a synth. It doesn't work when I set it as tempo based. It's impossible to set it as both for some reason. After going back and forth a few times, it just vanished from my menu, even tho it showed up in the manager. ? I don't know how to get it to show up again. For the 5 minutes i had it working, it was nice. (sigh)

Got it. Must be enabled as plugin AND synth. But not as tempo based in my experience here.

Very cool. Glitch is working great. My hiphop clients will be jumping around high-fiving when i bust this out. Too bad the vst mapping on my C4 is so random. Where can I get "The Finger"? uuhhg. I feel filthy after asking that....

sdo oundtweaker Check out the new Stutter Edit VST from Izotope also. I actually passed on that one after trying the demo. The Finger, Glitch, Effectrix and a few others I already had do a much better job musically, in my opinion. I also felt it was overkill in the design and UI. I know some people like it, but it just wasn't my cup of tea (or vodka lol).

I'm not sure if it works in the free Kore player or not -- you'd have to check on that.

works for me enabled as tempo based. i think there is another midi button on the gui you might have to hit too. but if you got it working, cool.
