Darn, I had thought of that even before there were air conditioners. We just have to overcome the power cord length.

While she's on a roll, somebody should ask her to solve the other big problems. You know, like War, Global Hunger, Forum Software...

Now that's a perfect example of why it's politics as usual in D.C. She will be voting soon.

bapu Darn, I had thought of that even before there were air conditioners. We just have to overcome the power cord length. They have big ones of those that cool off the Earth and generate electricity. People complain about them though as they are a bigger eyesore than nuclear reactors. I go and sit in McDonalds these days if I want a decent environment to relax in. They care about these things. Did you know all of their beef cattle now get a free uniform?

UbiquitousBubba I know. They work the drive through on weekends. Only if they've earned 5 star status by attending to their personal hygeine and keeping the kitchen area clean.

Sounds like a good idea to me … those first 2 weeks of June here in NJ were HOT, and I was thinking something along the same lines … building massive air conditioner (heat transfer) units along Route 1. From a technical standpoint I think the energy requirement can be easily addressed by building hundreds nuclear reactors up and down the east coast of the US. The more challenging technical hurdle would be where and how to move (i.e., exchange) the heat. One possible thought would be to engineer a massive duct system that would deliver the heat to the arctic through Canada keeping the US a comfortable 72 degrees (Fahrenheit of course).

Canada would be a good place to stash all the spent fuel from the reactors too, no?

Things out in Jersey and here in PA are pretty hot this year for sure....Nature always finds a way to balance all of that heat. The hot air causes all of those afternoon and evening storms . The hotter it gets the larger storm you can figure on getting later on..... Building underground and removing the humidity would save a ton on energy bills.....and go a long way towards safety in a tornado situation.
