Glory (technoish)

I wrote this song over 5 months ago, but I didn't know if it was finished. We've all been there. I just let it sit. I've come back to it, now, made some final tweaks and called it good. The song is hard to categorize. It has far East main ingredients with added techno flavoring. Making it even harder to categorize, the synth bass melody is based on the hymn tune "Allein Gott in der Höh" (All Glory be to God on High) by Nikolaus Decius.

For those who are curious, 4 instances of Dimension Pro provide the sitar, pan flute, synth bass and triangle. TTS-1 is used for the tubular bell. Jamstix 2 is used for all of the other percussion. I wanted something completely different from the normal techno/rock/jazz drum patterns. The challenge was to tell Jamstix what I wanted without telling Jamstix exactly what to do. What you hear was completely generated by the Jamstix brain after setting the parameters.

    Russell, I’m a big fan of Jamstix too. Well done musically, very creative number. The mix sounds great.

    Russell, that was very interesting. Some of those percussion parts were surprisingly interesting. Nice combination of instruments/polyrhythms.

    Thanks Jonbouy, tdye and MArwood. The song was fun to do, and after I figured out how to set Jamstix, that sure was nice. I don't think I could have come close to that percussion unless I would have slaved over a hot drum map for several months, and even then I don't think it would have been as nice.

    Nice, a Sitar that actually works well.
