Go Team GB!

Lizzie Armitstead gets Silver in the Womens cycling road race.  Kudos to Dutch girl Marianne Vos taking the gold.

The most exciting sporting event I've seen for ages after Russia's Olga Zabelinskaya and the two other medal winners made their break a long way out and managed to maitain a good distance from the main pelaton by helping each other out all the way to the finish.

Fantastic race to watch.

    I can't get excited over bicycling. 

    Having had the Tour de France go through my town twice in the past 10 years ( including the start of a Contre la Montre), well, it just upsets the traffic flow.
    But the nice blonde young ladies handing out the Haribo's are particularly welcome for a 3rd time.....



    That being said, a medal is a medal, so hats off to Lizzie !

    Incredible crowd support too. They were saying on the TV it was the biggest crowd to ever bowl up to watch a womens' cycling race.

    I watched the volleyball, I like at each interval the cleaners scrub in line. For me that has been the highlight of the olymbics or is that para olymbics.

    I also watched the womens football, interestingly enough it was quite good for womens football. I could watch this event every four years at the olympycs.

    It was not exactly a meaningful game but GB did beat Brazil in soccer and they were giving Brazil fits! I don't think I have seen the Brazilian team so flustered with the long balls ... great strategy to spread them out and tire them out, btw.
