Gobbler - auto backup within project or no?

I just noticed that when you have a Sonar project set to "auto backup" in the Gobbler module, this does not result in auto-backup being engaged for this project when I open the Gobbler application.  I had expected this to be linked.  This raises some questions:

1) If auto backup is engaged just in Sonar, will backups occur if Sonar is not open?

2) Should I set auto backup to active in *both* locations, or is one preferred over the other?

Thanks

To date I have no idea what the Gobbler module does in the first place. When I installed the Gobbler app (as downloaded from the Gobbler website), it prompted me to indicate a folder to "watch," and it keeps my whole project folder synced regardless of any Gobble setting I have within Sonar. So I'm not really sure what Gobble "integration" is, or why I would need it.

EDIT: I suppose it's handy if you use Gobbler as a collaboration tool.

    Sharke,

Just want to be sure you are aware that simply "watching" a folder does not back it up. It just tells the application which folders to display.  You need to switch on the "auto update" switch.  I initially thought watching a folder meant it was backed up, but this is not the case.

That is correct, but it must be the case that when you first set this up, there is an option to have auto update switched on for everything in the folder. I say this, because the folder in question has some 30+ projects and they are ALL set to auto update, and I certainly didn't switch it on manually for all of them.

I jumped on Gobbler initially but it was constantly scanning and updating files that I hadn't touched for months. Even at the lowest throttle setting I was seeing big CPU spikes. As a result I uninstalled it and opted for another (and cheaper) cloud storage service where I can back up files when "I" want to.

    Peace!

If I really need online backup I use FTP. Call me old fashioned, it just works.
