Goin' Down in Flames - New Original
My last 6 months of work is proving to be an overload on my brain. I've been behind my normal musical activity level and haven't had much time to devote to serious work. Some cool stuff posted on this site right now. It never ceases to amaze me. Here is my latest feeble effort. This has been a bear to mix so I'm open to suggestions, I hope you like the song. I'll dedicate it to all the current and ex-road warriors on this site. Daryl Goin' Down in Flames http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11936503

wow, this is a great tune and superb mix, Daryl. Excellent vocals as well. I'm just listening on a notebook with ear buds but the mix sounds really well settled, vocals are on top great and the percs are spread around beautifully. Love the guitar work especially the lead segments - I'm so jealous! Love the BGV harmonies. All good here, not a darn thing I can hear out of place! My only suggestion is that you make many more such "feeble efforts" !! Keep on doing it, dude! Great listen! ~ John

Daryl, you've done it again. This is so tasty in so many ways. Your voice and guitar were made for each other. The song is well crafted and sounds good on both my speakers and headphones. Very well done, mate.

Daryl - What a great song. Awesome guitar playing as usual, and vocals..... I like your performance a lot and I could also hear a number of artists recording this song, Kenny Chesney comes to mind for one. The song has some nice commercial appeal. Regards

Not at all feeble sir; this child is very strong and wonderful fun here! My heart sings within when I hear this. Rarely can a singer do this to me. Vocals are ASTONISHING! Instruments flow magically with their wistful chimes amidst fun melancholy froliks ... and travels to romantic wonderlands. My fav here in a long time. This seems by far your greatest masterpiece ... I just soared beyond my imagination! Hahahaha! This thing and Bob Oister's rock smash have made my evening alive!

Dave - Thanks much! Frank - I thought you might be able to relate.. Thank you for the kind words. So glad you liked it. I know if you like it, then it at least doesn't really suck. Herb - Thanks. Just enough country in there to flip your trigger hey John - Thank you. There is actually only one harmony line because this tune ended up in the key of E and when ever that happens, I'm at a loss to sing lines higher. I don't know why I do that. And my next project that I'm working on right now... is in the key of E. Shawn - Thanks man. Lynn - You know how much I love my guitar. The rhythm on this tune I did with my Thinline Telecaster. It's taken my awhile to get it setup right, but I'm starting to like it a bunch. But nothing will take the place of my tricked out Koren copy... the only guitar I've every actually "loved". (Although not in some bizarre taboo kind of way) Thank you. Mark - I would like to hear him record it too! Royalites baby! Thanks. Eric - Thanks, that's a high compliment. Mark - Thanks. I think I've had my vocals called astonishing before but I think it was negative thing. Thank you. If you soar beyond your imagination at the speed of light... would your brain explode? Phillip - Thanks a lot, that's encouraging give that this is tough ke for me. This song once again proves that my ears are crap. I struggled with the mix on this one, but I think I learned some things in the process of trying to make it listenable. It did come togeter well in the end, but I was still afraid it had big issue... then everyone seems to like it.... which proves... I don't know squat. I need me some new ears! Thanks all! Daryl

Nice tune as always, Daryl. You never have given us a bad song, man. I think the mix goes a bit much in the highs, especially that crash cymbal.

Hi Daryl, Really nice song, man. I like the 'chimey' rhythm guitars a lot. The mix/production sounds fine (although the cymbals seem a little loud to me). Excellent vocal and guitar playing, as always. Very nice

Usual smooth tones and effortless sounding vocals from you. All sounds good apart from the crash cymbal which needs backing of some for me.

I'm surprised that everyone liked this song so well, as I was not sure how it would be received, but thank you all! Once again my ears are worse than everyone elses. THANK YOU on the cymbal volume. Cymbals are sooooo freakin' hard for me to hear, I can never tell if they are too loud. If I can hear them at all, they are generally too loud. Thanks for being my ears, you all are the best resouce I have and I sincerly mean that. Thanks again! Daryl

Daryl, This is souch a great song. Your vocal performance was outstanding. I really liked your vocal. I would tend to agree that the highs are too much. IMO, the low end (Bass) needs to be brought up some. Thanks for sharing!

Marcus - Not a Gibson. A custom 18" Campellone, made in the style of the classic Gibson Super 400. www.mcampellone.com My second favorite guitar. Thanks. Spacecalf, Thanks for the input. I'm remixing now. Pouge, Thank you. I work on my touch, because I'm not all that fast. Vicente - Richard. I really appreciate that. I work hard on the voice and I figure if I live to be about 129, I should be able to get myself into some kind of rough shape. But I really do appreciate your comments on the vocals. I try to strive to not embarrass myself. Tony. I hear you. It's always easier to write songs that you have personally lived. Thank you! Daryl

Hi, Daryl, Excellent song with great playing, amazing vocals and a crystal clear, top-notch mix! I love those clean guitar tones, the smooth flowing country rock guitar solos and fills, and the percussion adds a vintage '70s coffee house feel that brings back some good old memories. Super stuff, Daryl, keep 'em coming, buddy! Bob

Hi Daryl! Wow! Mighty fine job my friend! Great song/lyrics! Not a whole lot to say about this one, just a minor nit or 2... seems like the low end is rolled off just a bit too much, as my sub never kicked in best I could tell. Both the hi hats and crash cymbals seemed a tad hot to me in both level and high end. Man I love that chimey sound of your guitars. Great tones! (I love different tones!) Good job on the mix/imaging too. More!!
