Going Home Crazy
Going Home Crazy My brother Mike Fields died on May 11. He was a musician I always admired and he taught me a lot about music and playing guitar. We recorded 4 of my songs in the mid-1980s, but this is the only original song he ever recorded. I have a slew of songs he and his band recorded, but they're all covers (copyrighted), and they're really good, if you don't mind me saying so. Going Home Crazy was recorded on a Fostex 4-track cassette tape deck around 1987, with a BOSS drum machine, thence to a stereo cassette. It sat around for about 15 years before I put it on CD for more permanent storage. I just thought someone besides his family and friends should hear it. About 4 minutes long.

I'm sad to hear of Mike's passing, I recall that you would frequently mention how he had taught you so much and how much he meant to you. Please accept my condolences.
Thanks for sharing the song. The playing is impressive. The song lyrics and the vocal delivery of them seem really powerful in a "big picture" way. Wow. I'm glad you posted this.

Wow, you did an amazing job with the tools at hand. I know a number of people who started out this way in the 80's, but few ever approached the level of quality that you did. It reminded me of Robin Trower. What a wonderful memorial to your brother.

+1 to the above - for a mid-80s recording the mix comes across pretty well. I agree with Lynn too, it does have a bit of that chorus-y Robin Trower thing going on.
And sorry for your loss - I have an older brother who's played guitar since he was fifteen and I've learned a lot from him over the years as well. Even played in a band together for a few years in the 90's. I'll have to see what old cassettes I still have...
