Going Where I've Been

howdy y'all -

Here's this week's Kicksville release, Going Where I've Been:

http://kicksville.bandcamp.com/track/going-where-ive-been-2

This is about as close to a straight-forward blues tune as we'll ever get It features some fine B3 playing by Grammy-winning engineer Jay Frigoletto, violin from Biff Blumfumgagnge (League of Crafty Guitarists), and lyrics from Kicksville's resident Fireman, Andy Ewen. Fun for the whole family!

    Hey Conrad!

It's been a while since I've seen you around here. How're ya doing? Cool to hear some new Kicksville again. And it sounds pretty good! The B3 sounds killer! And the tune simply rocks! Good stuff!

Very Zappa like... A sort of one-celled Hammond organism.

Nicely recorded and mixed.   It grows on you the farther along it goes.  Yea... I like it.

Extremely cool. Was not sure what to make of it at first but then the absolute hipster-cache kicked in. This is quite good. Simple, sparse production with interesting quirky and sly lyrics. A nice treat for the ears and the brain. Great job.

    hey - thanks a lot, y'all!

Daryl - even though we weren't thinking about Zappa when we wrote this, I actually credited the B3 parts as "Hammond Organism by Jay Frigoletto." And although I'm not worthy, I certainly can't complain about any comparison to The Master!

Marius - good to hear from you! I've been around, just lurking.... Kicksville is ALWAYS working on new music, which was actually the hold-up between the last album and this one. We just kept writing more and more, and we finally had to say STOP and pick a few to release. With 6 albums out in 4 years, we haven't exactly been slacking off If you want, you can catch up with everything on our bandcamp page (for free, too): http://kicksville.bandcamp.com

Again, thank all of you for the VERY kind words, and we'll be back with another track on Tuesday!

Who's the drummer on this? Wow! The whole thing sounds great! Nice timing changes on the chorus.

    Thanks, man!

That's Kicksville's main drummer, Lou Caldarola. He's played on almost everything we've recorded in the last 5 years or so, and yeah - he's a monster. Check out the last section of this tune and you'll see why we call him the Energizer Bunny :

Lou also did a video demonstrating the beat for one of of other songs and talking about his playing 'n stuff. He even puts in a bunch of out-takes at the end:
