"Gold"

I am in the finishing stages of a cover of Chet Faker's 'Gold', with a license via EasySongLicensing for anyone who cares.  I am still learning but it has been the most fun I have had making any song.  Before I button it up. I'd love to get any guidance on fixes from the forum.

If you are unfamiliar with the original tune, he made a great music video here:

Thanks for listening!

I don't recognize this, but it really doesn't matter. The important thing is how well does this stand on it's own. I liked this so much that I'm going to find out who this Chet Faker is...lol.

I think you did a great job on this. I like the ebb and flow, and the dynamics of the track. After two listens, I still don't hear anything that I don't like. I would make the kettle drums a little bigger (at 2:10 and 2:17), but that's about it.

Can't say I am aware of the original, which is a good thing then I can judge the track on its own merits. Really enjoyed the listening and this has been very well produced. Enjoyed the start stopping motion of the track when it appears. Nice mix, you should be proud of this one.

Thanks for the feedback Dan and biodiode.  I boosted the kettles as Dan suggested, made some vocal mix adjustments I had missed before and re-posted the track.  Thanks!

Like the others I am unfamiliar with the original, however this is a an excellent presentation, everything present and in its own space.  Nicely done sir well worthy of an

Excellent track and presentation... mix seemed really solid.  I personally would have liked a teeny bit more clarity on that fine vocal, but that may just be a personal preference.

I had a quick listen to the original version since like everyone else I've never heard it before, but just "at a glance" I think I prefer yours!  Nice clarity while still having that "ebb and flow", cool synth arps and stabs, and the little touches like the reverse reverb fade-ins are very well executed.    It's got a vibe.
