Good piano...where to find?
Hi, i record piano using the TTS from SONAR 6, i 've recorder ANGELIQUE that way ( www.soundclick.com/robertplas ). As i know REASON has better ones, but never had success rewiring it. Do you know where i can find a better one? Or, is there a way to upload those REASON sounds in SONAR without rewiring? Thank's!

Check out www.truepianos.com www.pianoteq.com www.artvista.com I have truepianos and love the playability of the unit. Artvista just release version 2 and is getting good reviews and you could also see if Garritan.com has release their Steinway sampled piano. It is over-due, but I want to try Garritan's when it comes out. Ed

ORIGINAL: InstrEd you could also see if Garritan.com has release their Steinway sampled piano. It is over-due, but I want to try Garritan's when it comes out. Ed Gary had a blurb on his forum yesterday that they are getting close: the manuals are at the printers and the discs are ready for duplication. They are also getting the web site ready for the release. Looks like it may show up in the next week or two but that's just a guess. He does have screenshots of the interface posted.

My fave pianos, in order of use. - TruePianos. My fave at this point. Very good sound, tweakable enough for me, not heavy on CPU or RAM. - SR Piano Collection Expansion Tank - some nice acoustic (2 Steinways, Yamaha, upright, Kawai baby grand etc) and EP's. Requires sampletank engine. RAM-based so not too heavy. - Dimension Grand Piano in Digital Sound Factory vol1. Requires DimPro (won't work in DimLE), DSF1 requires free DimPro expansions be installed as well. - Sampletekk pianos - Emperor (Bosendorf 290), Old Lady (vintage Steinway), 7CGjr (Yamaha C7), and Rain Piano (upright). Requires streaming sampler like Kontakt or Halion. SampleLord choked loading one of these but I haven't tried to reproduce. Although these were inexpensive ($25 each on group buys) and sound good, I find I don't use them much. Any of these is better than TTS-1. Heck, even Forte DXI is better than TTS-1, for GM it (along with SR Omnisynth for Sampletank) is one of my favorite GM sets. Doug

Haven't tried any, but the TruePianos get a lot of good press on these boards.

This question is asked periodically, and the answer ranges across the board, depending on what you want in terms of sound, size and cost. Dimension Pro has nice pianos. I find the Native Instruments Akoustik Piano quite good (it contains a number of grand pianos). If you don't want to spend a lot of money right now and would like to broaden the choice of sounds in your library, www.wusik.com has extended its group buy of the Wusikstation for only $60. It includes a 1GB Maestro Concert Grand. You can listen to an MP3 of it. If that looks like it will fit your needs, then you essentially get all of the other stuff for free (4GB library, Wusikstation synth, VST tools, MegaBass, MegaPads, etc.). If 90 more people participate in the group buy, they will add two more sound sets.
