I left Pro Tools after 5 years, I knew it inside and out. It lacks son many basic features that every day has. It come with good fx from air but thats about it. The only thing I liked was the the universal quantize, and stability. Pro Tools is the industry standard only because Hd systems and the name, that's it.

Man do I get tired of softies advertising their goodbyes on MY forum !!!! A real "Pro" Can make great and professional sounding recordings with any DAW. I see you've only posted once which means you're probably a competitor. But if you're not I'll tell you right now that if you're looking for the software to make you professional than you just don't know a thing. Sonar X1 kicks ass on my computer and I'll pit my production capabilities using X1 against any so called professional using pro tools......so what's up?

Goodbye I remember how exciting it was years ago when I 1st started with Cakewalk. At Pro Audio 9, I knew I was staying with Cakewalk forever. As the years went by, I found myself converting several musicians. By Sonar 4, I was ready to fight the Pro Tools battle. I was confident and happy that I had so many years with Cakewalk. 8.5...forget about it. Wow, what a program. At this point it had been quite a while since I looked at other programs and I even thought to myself, why bother with anyone not using Sonar. Obviously, they just don't get it. I have found the greatest work environment of my life. I have found....Pro Tools. I never thought, it could ever be........this good. With that.....Goodbye. Pretty flippin' amazing that after all of these years using Cake that your very first post to the forum is to say "goodbye".

Dude really? Why the soliloquy? We have more processing power now than the Beatles ever had. If your songs suck on CW, they will suck on PT with their "better" tools. If they are great, they are great. Motown music sounds like sonic crap compared to the quality we have here, but they were some of the greatest songs written. People will see through the poor recordings but not the poor material. It's all in your knowledge of engineering. I wish you the best with PT.

Intrigued by this post, I went and read a review of Pro Tools 9 from January this year, this is an extract: Cubase and Sonar are available as 64-bit applications, where Pro Tools 9 is 32-bit, which means it will never be able to address more than 4GB of RAM. With virtual instruments drawing on vast sample libraries, it isn’t unusual to hit this limit when using lots of instrument plugins. In our tests, this caused Pro Tools to crash, repeatedly. Windows users who want the full-fat Pro Tools experience will need to add the Complete Production Toolkit 2, which costs £1,191 exc VAT.... ...that's about as far as I got.

you're perfectly free to make a change if that's what you want, but why the new forum account to say "goodbye"? why not close out your existing forum account if you are really saying goodbye? well, anyway, goodbye "goodbye".

I really understand how someone who was at a professional user's level with 8.53 would be turned of enough by X1 to switch to another program. Cakewalk probably understood some of that would happen. Good luck with your DAW choice. On the other hand posting here that you've now found the best, most professional DAW FOR EVERYONE is just plain lame and downright rude and I'm guessing it's borne from frustration and allegiance to the Sonar of the past. Everyone will gravitated to the DAW that suits them the best - no avoiding that. You've moved to Pro Tools. Fine. But I wonder why you would come to this forum and try to convince others that you've made the right decision?

Hmmm... maybe we should get Avid forum accounts and post "Goodbye PT, now that I have X1 I don't need ya..." LOL! jk
