Ever thought about a SS Firestorm?

Yes, it is a T/C. I got some powder sticks. Never seen them but they look convenient. I forgot to get P-caps but am going back to town today.
I really want a Winchester 1873. They started making them again but they are only one caliber right now (.357 mag or .38) and retail for 1300 bucks or 1580 for case hardened... dealer price is a ittle over 900 bucks on the 1300 dollar gun. I could get an Italian knock off for 400 bucks but, it wouldn't be the real thing. I'm hoping they make one in .44 cal I am not fan of .357 Mag. I'd prefer a .44 or .45

Flintlocks are OK but I don't want to deal with a flash pan. I have an old flintlock hammer and pan. I dug it metal detecting in Virginia. Actually got to hunt one day at the Crow's Nest, very much a historic piece of land. Found the flintlock parts, a federal minnie, a Confederate slick, and a bullet in wood. The one in wood is really cool, the minnie was completely encased in a dead limb on the ground. I cut away just enough so you can see the bullet. The preservationists showed up the next day with so much media pressure that the land owner caved, but we got one day's hunting in. It was out on the land where the Powhatans lived and where Pochontas was captured in 1613.The federals also captured a plantation there and used it as a staging area... I imagine they wish they had never crossed to attack Fredricksburg.
The land is privately owned but some preservationists are in a battle to try and make the owner leave it as it is. It really is a beautiful place and a few holes, dug a few inches deep and refilled will never hurt anything but some people think they own other people's property and would rather that relics rust away in the ground than be recovered and displayed... we saved a few things though.

New Jersey? Yeah... well... moonshiners cant make moonshine either and speeders cant speed... I bet you CAN buy and own a blackpowder gun, most gun laws don't apply to blackpowder muzzle loaders... and I know just the one. http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=1612371

I am pretty sure all you would have to do is point it at someone to get them to pee their pants. It is 20 gauge, they used to sell them in .50 cal and .58 cal. Probably can still get those somewhere.

You can also get this to go with it....

Hi Sharke,
You can defend your self... just move on down to Florida.

We've had some recent gun stories that seem so *Florida* to me.

Recently a guy had his unloaded .380 gun sitting on the floor of his pick em up truck when his dog bumped into it and it shot the guys foot... with a 9mm bullet. Chances are the dog didn't slide one into the chamber or pull back on a double action hammer... if you know what I mean.

The other recent and typical *Florida* story was the lady in St Petersburg who had her oven shoot 4 rounds at her when she was preheating it for some baking. Her room mate, in the interest of safety had pulled his clip from his hand gun and placed the gun in a kitchen draw and then placed the clip in the oven where no one would look for it. You know... safety first!

There's also the guy who got away with murder a couple years ago when he was in the coat closet of a church's meeting hall with his buddy looking at his buddies bad ass 9mm when it accidentally went off, shot through a wall and killed a girl in the next room. The girl just happened to be the shooter's fiance and her dad owns the church. That's how it rolls in Florida. Some how no one got charged... you know, just because.

Last New Years Eve two different people, in two different Florida towns got struck by bullets flying through the air at midnight. Hey it's Florida... and a couple rounds of .762 are way cheaper than driving to South Carolina for bottle rockets. There's no way to figure out who did it because it seems like every other guy you talk to owns an AK47. You know... good times!!!

I could go on... and on... and on...

I've never been afraid of guns and it seems to me that often times the bad guys are more careful with them than the goof balls.

I don't expect everyone to know what that means. :-)

 best regards,
mike

Yeah but idiots will be idiots. You could find way more examples of people harming themselves and others by being idiots behind the wheel, for example.

When at my parents ast weekend I found a "rocket" I made when I wasa a kid. However, I am no longer sure if it is a rocket... it is probably a really good thing that I lost it. I took a Crosman CO2 cylinder, sawed off the cap and stuffed it completely full of caps, match heads, powder from firecrackers, and anything else explosive I could find... it is packed full. The plan was to insert a fuse, stick it in a pipe (barrel), point it toward the sky, light it and run. Probably not a good idea but I was maybe 12 years old... now I don't know what to do with it. I am thinking maybe I should....  insert a fuse, stick it in a pipe (barrel), point it toward the sky, light it and run.

Once 12... always 12.

I grew up with an elementary school above the backyard (I used to jump our fence, climb a hill and and crawl under the school fence as a shortcut).  I still remember kids that used to use PVC pipe and C02 cylinders filled with blue-tip match heads.  Dangerous things!  One time it came back to earth way too close and hit a wood seat where it buried itself in at least four inches.  I would assume it would be fatal if it hit someone on the head...

One fun science project my friend and I used to do was to make tennis ball cannons.  You take two steel soda cans (like Welch's - aluminum cans won't work), cut out the bottom of one leaving a ridge and make a small "mouse" hole in the bottom of the lower can.  Duct tape the cans together, squirt in some lighter fuel - spinning the cans to coat all of the sides, then insert a tennis ball (which should stay on the middle ridge) and light down by the mouse hole.  *BOOM!*  That ball could go quite a ways into the air if done right.  We would add extras like carefully rifling the top of the bottom can to get a spinning effect.  Ah, teenage fun!

COOL.... I have a book "Backyard Ballistics".

I like stuff like this. I was afraid the CO2 cylinder was something I don't want to type out here, considering the N_S_A etc, but lets say I was concerned that I had made a
