Got any favorite lyric lines?

Just anything that whenever you hear it you can't help but smile?

I had one a couple of minutes ago while listening to the Moody Blues.  "Put out your problems with the cat."

Love it!

How about the part right after the record gets all scratched up in Accept's Fast as a Shark?  Would that do?  It's about 20 seconds into THIS  Hehe...

While I'm in blues mode, I also love the tag line from love Albert Collins' "I Ain't Drunk":

I don't care, what the people are thinkin'
    I ain't drunk, I'm just drinkin'

Man, I hadn't heard that one in, what? 28 years or something...

They're still making records from what I read on Steinberg's web site last year.

This whole thing... Almost any line from it.

    The DANGEROUS KITCHEN ,
If it ain't one thing it's another ,
In the middle of the night when you get home ,
The bread things are all dry 'n' scratchy ,
    The meat thing ,
Where the cats ate through the paper ,
The can things with the sharp little edges ,
That can cut your fingers when you're not looking ,
The soft little things on the floor that you step on ,
    They can all be DANGEROUS

Sometimes , The milk can hurt you ,
(If you put it on your cereal before you smell the plastic container) ,
And the stuff in the strainer ,
Has a mind of its own ,
    So be very careful ,
    In the dangerous kitchen ,

When the night time has fallen,
And the roaches are crawlin' ,
In the kitchen of danger ,
You can feel like a stranger ,
    The bananas are black ,
They got flies in the back ,

    And also the chicken ,
In the dish with the foil ,
Where the cream is all clabbered ,
And the salad is frightful ,
Your return in the evening ,
Can be less than delightful ,
You must walk very CAREFUL ,
You must not lean against it ,
It can get on you clothing ,
It can follow you in ,
As you walk to the bedroom ,
And you take all your clothes off ,
While you're sleeping , It crawls off ,
It gets in your bed ,
It could get on your face then ,
It could eat your complexion ,
You could die from the danger ,
    Of the dangerous kitchen ,

Who the f**k wants to clean it? ,
    It's disgusting and dirty ,
The sponge on the drainer ,
    Is stinky and squirty ,
If you squeeze it when you wipe up ,
What you get on your hands then ,
Could un-balance your glands and ,
Make you blind or whatever ,
    In the DANGEROUS KITCHEN ,
    At my house tonight

I feel the same way about "The Torture Never Stops"....both great tracks

    Flies all green and buzzin'
    In this dungeon of despair
    Prisoners grumblin
    P*ss they clothes
    Scratch their matted hair
    A tiny light from a window-hole
    Hundred yards away
That all they ever get to know
'bout the regular life in the day
'bout the regular life in the day

Slime and rot and rats and snuck
    Vomit on the floor
    Fifty ugly soldier men
Holdin' spears by the iron door
Stinks so bad, stones are chokin'
    Weepin' greenish drops
    In the den where
    The giant fire puffer woiks
    And the torture never stops
    The torture never stops, torture
    The torture never stops
    The torture never stops

    Flies all green and buzzin'
    In this dungeon of despair
An evil prince eats a steamin' pig
In a tumbers right near there
In the chambers right near there
He eats de snouts an trotters first!
The loins and the groins are then dispersed
His carvin style is well rehearsed
    He stands and shouts
    All men be cursed (4x)
And disagree it, well no one durst
He the best of cause of all the woist
Best of cause of all the woist

He stinks so bad his stones been chokin'
    Weepin' greenish drops
In the room with the iron maiden
And the torture never stops, torture
    Torture never stops
    Torture never stops, torture
    Torture never stops

''Only love makes killing time so cruel
The hours come and you drag them 'round with you

Life carries on and on and on

A favorite rhyme: you really put me through a blender, you're a credit to your gender.

Fun singalong song to perform in bars: were you born an a$$hole, or did you work at it your whole life? Either way, it worked out, 'cause yer an a$$hole tonight. I was talkin' to yer mother, just the other night. Said I thought you were an a$$hole, she said yes, I think you're right.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Re:Got any favorite lyric lines? 2012/12/16 13:21:21 (permalink)
    Hi,

The first two from a pair of pieces from Amon Duul 2's Wolf City album, and the last one from the album "Vive La Trance" ... in one of the best songs ever written, about the hippy days gone away ... and forgotten, called "Apocaliptyc Bore", complete with references to acid and Star Wars! But the best lyric still is from Amon Duul 2 and is says that Mona Lisa is a bird brain on Dance of the Lemmings somewhere!

The hard part of these pieces, is that the lyrics are more literature than anything else, as its references are immense and endless.

    (Surrounded by the Stars)

    You walk
    Surrounded by the stars
    For many days
    And you knock
    At the gates of night
    No answer

    But you walk in
    With your decrees
    And you go out
    With shaking knees
    A street-sweeper appears
    Makes your dusty feet clean
    Come and jump
    On my Are-You-Tired machine

    At sunrise
    You play your violin
    On Napoleon's nose
    A cop comes and says
    You're one of those
    But you jump
Into the trumpet of a clown
    And you say to yourself
Maybe I should leave this town?

    You walk
    Beside the twilight street
    Jewel of the town
    And you pass
    The make-up zoo
    Where hungry people meet
    They ask you
    And you give them
    All you need
For a trip to the South
    Maybe you think
What sort of idiot am I
Without a bone in my mouth
And you turn to the sunrise
    You see a famous face
    Behind a golden fence
A voice sounds round the corner:
"This is your very last chance!"
    But you laugh
Like the son of a kangaroo
I don't believe the TV screen!
    I don't believe you too!
    ...
And right behind the ending of this song, it ends with a saw cutting wood, and it has a bass link to the next piece that is amazing, and one of the prettiest transitions I have ever heard into this next song: (Green Bubble Raincoated Man)

Sometimes I'm missing a word from my friends
Why can't we share the problems hand in hand?
And when I ask my mirror what is the truth?
All the funny things you do!
    Look into my eyes
    Do you really mean it?
    'Cause this is no question
You have to face the facts in time and
    Don't forget you're high
Wouldn't you rather check what's your confession?
Green bubbles came out of the crystal thing
A sudden cry of an old rain-coated guy
And softly grey gnomes were whispering to my ear:
All the funny things you do!

    Look into my eyes
    Do you really mean it?
    'Cause this is no question
You have to face the facts in time and
    Don't forget you're high
Wouldn't you rather check what's your confession?
Just an advice: Don't ask your face tonight
Don't tell the words you like so much
Don't tell, just act in spite
Don't try to prove your own brain's might
Don't lose the sun, 'cause you need fun
Two races keep me in action
    Don't bother about my reaction
I had to learn a lot from my master
All I say is try to get to the green bubble raincoated man
    Green bubble raincoated man
Don't stay in the rain again
Drink this poisoned cup of tea
Wait and wonder what you'll see
    Gimme back my crystal mirror
And you gonna be a hero
    Green bubble raincoated man
    Don't stay in the rain
    ===================

    (Apocaliptyc Bore)

One day, when suddenly by fortune
    We saw the U.F.O.'s fly
They brought us the so-called paradise
They were spooking from the sky
    Desert became a blooming garden
    Like a dainty recreation field
    Everybody's keenest dreams came true
    Even gigantomaniacs were thrilled
    Frogmen lifted treasures
    Everybody got their parts
    It was a worldwide pleasure
We all landed in the charts
No horse that didn't win the race
    They found their destination
As if they were shot through the space
    It was a big sensation...

    (break and solo)

My neighbour lived in the middle ages
    His castle was cheaply rented
Everybody now could explore the past
    'Cause the time-continuum-robot was invented
    And then the skywriters signalized
    Their majesties the extraterrestians
And when they came down in sparkling haze
    We called them the space-pedestrians
There seemed to be happiness for eternity
    Mankind scored more and more
Until one day the young growing up generation
Called this age an apocalyptic bore
There was nothing to fight for – no love no hate –
Only a quivering in the air
Kids had taken all their skybikes
And were leaving for the Big Bear
Dark shadows burst through the universe
    Mother earth was really shocked
All hopes all dreams had disappeared
All ways, all minds were locked
    The flood came ....

(break and dueling solo violin and guitar to the end)

There was a similar song in concept and pattern, written by Scorpions, on their 2nd album and it is the title cut to "Fly To The Rainbow" ... which is a sort of let's party song ... and that's that! Playing these two back to back is likely to get your ears busted up ... but you have to do it LOUD ... because the solos are impressive and totally well setup in both pieces!

    Hi,

And on their song "Mozambique", Amon Duul 2 ripped the whole African thing with some insane intensity ... dig this, the history, the detail, and the acid'ity that it is looked at.

Funny thing ... 4 months later after the album was released, the country of Mozambique was liberated from Portugal, and the country has suffered since because it can no longer steal the oil that it did before.

    Mozambique

    Clap your hands
    Because you're gonna die
Every victim is searching for his hangman
Every hunter is stalking his prey
Victim find a victim and hang the hangman
Better to die as a free man than to live as a slave

Clap your hands Because you're gonna die
The white beast is in the villages
    Dealing only in death
With his soul left behind him
He is The raper of women
    Mutilator of children
    Murderer of men

(And the pieces rips into a total acid rock blow-out!) (It fades in the end to a whisper of "Unite and Fight" in echo ... )

It's all a load of bollocks
    It's all a load of bol-locks
It's all a load of bollocks
    And bollocks to it all.
