Another top-notch mix John. I assume the changes between snippets match up to video somewhere? I'd love to hear more full songs from you.

Interesting piece John. There are a couple of uptempo sections where the lead guitar seems buried in the mix, it'd be nice to hear that soaring over the strummed acoustics.

I was just reading a discussion over at techniques where someone mentioned that these Sonicfire Pro loops are quite short, do you find this a problem?

James, Thanks for listening and for your comments, they are always appreciated. As for the shortness of loops and samples from Smart Sound Music Library, like any looped music, you can stretch them out as far as you want or shorten them as short as you need. I try to build my pieces with 0:30 second segments or less. Sometimes they are just hits or beats, depending on the instrumentation I am looking for in the piece I'm working on. There are endless tracks to the Sonicfire Pro 5 Scoring Edition, which is the edition I have and I have purchased hundreds of loop and sample discs from several different companies. I don't just solely use Sonicfire Pro 5 for making these pieces. I also use the software listed below and again, make a lot of my own samples in Acid Pro 7 and save them to disc. It is a bit complex on how I do everything, but the end result is what I am aiming for, which will fit a video that is playing in my head. I could never afford to produce the videos playing in my head, so I settle for the music part only.

    Peace and Blessings, John

The arrangement of this piece is uniquely you.  Had I not known this was you, I would have thought of you, anyway.  I like everything about this, though, I would lower the volume of the acoustic guitar a little because the first time it came in, I was a little jolted.  Later, I was ready for it, and if that was what you were looking for, you succeeded.

    All the best,

There but for the grace of... I forget the rest. It would be nice to hear a verse, verse, chorus verse verse, break, chorus, chorus, end from you Mr. Player? It kind of feels like what Bapu told me it feels like to be on acid (citric acid...) when I listen to most of these? This one included :-( It's a bunch of good ideas from other people? But it's disjointed, it doesn't fit together? It's like a mix tape.

Could you please, please try to do a song next time? As opposed to this? I've heard you do it, so I believe you can?

I'll even give you a title, "Rise above!" Or, "Rise above it!" Now set to work. Idle hands are "you know who's" workshop...

Even if you do a cover, it's a song? Do a cover? Step out of your comfort zone sir.

Robbie, Go to Dan Barnes page and he did a song titled "Doing It My Way". I think he wrote that song for me, as I am doing it my way. Remember, these are for video and not for on stage or at a night club or the dance scene. They fit perfectly to a video in my mind. My only regret is I don't have the money to share the video with you all, because they would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to create. My social security people aren't giving me a raise to that level any time soon. There are songs on my sound click pages that fit what you are looking for, that you can listen to, for now. Once I decide to start recording regular stuff and playing my keyboards and guitars again you will be the first to know, I'll send you an email. I do, however, appreciate your listening and your comments are always appreciated and welcomed.

It sounds like  bunch of random snippets intermixed with the theme from the Rockford files. Although the parts sound like they are well made, it seems like too much randomness.

pistolpete, Thank you for listening and for your comments, they are always appreciated and welcomed. I'm guessing that James Garner would have enjoyed your comments, as his film were quite random in their own right, as well. Trying to create music for a random video really is quite fun and interesting. I need to slow my mind down a bit and get back on track so I can fit into everyone's needs for what video music should be like, I guess!!

John; I've come across your music in various places on the 'net (Gearslutz, Reverbnation etc) and I think you are an amazingly gifted songwriter and performer.  You have a wonderful way with words, in that you can write with tremendous directness, and your music seems to flow so effortlessly (though I'm sure it's the result of much hard work).

I truly wish you success with your music, as talented as you are you certainly deserve it.

jude77, I think you have the wrong person, as I have no music on Gearslutz, Reverbnation or etc., only on Soundclick, Mixposure and my private site. Also, please note, most of my video music are all rearranged remixes from thousands of purchased loops and samples that I own, in other words, I splice many pieces of music together to come up with a final piece and then I do final mastering to it with Sound Forge, Ozone 5 and Alloy 2. It is an art form in its own right, but I played no instruments in these pieces. There are pieces on my soundclick site that I play instruments on and some collaboration pieces as well. I thank you for listening and for your comments though. I hope you will still listen to my work, as it does require a lot of work putting them all together.

I have just finished listening to "Life of Grace" and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had no idea you were mixing a soundtrack to a video, so this piece makes much more sense now as I listen. These tracks are quite epic and I do particularly enjoy that.
Since you don't actually play anything on these tracks, I must also admire your creativity in regards to bringing this music together. You are right, this is an art all by itself, and you are the Maestro.

rebel007, Thanks for listening and for your comments, they are always appreciated. I like to think that what ever form of music one creates or puts together, that yes, that person is the maestro of what they are putting together. It is about creativity that is coming out of your head. Some play it, so use what others have played, some use sounds, some use art, some use a camera. It is about the finished results and what it means to you and the ones you choose to share it with.
