Great. I just jacked away $150 on Vocal Rider only to find ...
Reckon I should've done a bit of homework before rushing to the Waves website and throwing away money I could've used on ProChannel mods or food. Cie la vie. It'd be really cool if the Cakewalkians would list the plug-ins we can't use with X1 and X2. Just sayin'.
It takes one to know one, and vice versa. www.wetdogmusic.com www.soundcloud.com/markmoore-1 Sonar Platinum running on a AMD-A10 7700K 3.40 GHz, 32 gig RAM, Windows 10 with 2- 1 Terabyte externals. Why doesn't it work?:( Anyway, it should not be Cakewalks job to keep up with all plugin developers and say what does and doesn't work - that would be ridiculous. That is always information I have found on the plugin developers website.

You might try getting a refund. Not sure if that'll work. Meanwhile REAPER (only $60) allows VST3, I believe. A workaround might be to do your Vocal Rider work on the vocal(s) in there and then export out. Extra work, though...

Waves provides documentation of their own plug-ins and what DAWS support them. http://www.wavesupport.net/Objects/Images/Product%20Info/Supported_Hosts_Charts/V9_pc.html According to the page Vocal Rider is supported under SONAR. In your post I didn't see a mention of anything specific that was not working with that plug-in. Can you please elaborate what issue your running into. Thanks,

Vocal Rider's built-in side-chain feature relies on VST3 functionality - that's just the way it was designed by Waves.

Call them up and see if they will issue a credit, or send you some other plugin you might like instead. I haven't used them in a while, but in the past they have been good people willing to work with the community. At least that's been my experience.

cakewalk has consistantly been resistant to vst3. when it comes down to it, its just a matter of not wanting to spend the licensing fees i think. what other excuse is there? it was the same as when the originally fought vst. however, at least baxk then dxi and vst were both new technologies...the argument could be made that either was as good as the other. not so with vst2 vs. vst3. oh well..... vocal rider works perfect in Studio One btw. just thought id throw that in there... little elbow to the ribs cakewalk...just get it done guys....come on now.

Bass rider works Great in Sonar, Vocal rider does HALF of what it should. It will ride the Vocal in relation to the target you set, it just can't compensate for the music getting louder. I still do Less automating by using it, but not getting to set it and forget it (or set it and tweak it) SUCKS. (still saving time, but annoying that the Host we've invested our $ with is leaving us only partially compatible and not 'ready' for the future (which is now btw). I just downloaded Cubase 6.5 and might give Studio One a try as well. It's bad enough waiting around for fixes that don't ever come and now to have to wait for compatibility to happen or not happen.

bobgassert My Waves Vocal Rider works fine and so does Bass rider . We're not able to sidechain it though in X1 or X2 Bob, which is what it is designed to do. The support at Waves even said "yeah, that's been a bit of a problem with you guys (Sonar guys)."
