    Evil Dead
    Friday the 13th
    Fright Night

If you missed them back then, no prob - the producers in Hollywood completely ran out of ideas and are re-doing them all.

I guess that leaves Empire Strike Back and Return of the Jedi. I kinda hope Lucas lives forever so they can't do a remake of these. We'll get the continually digitally enhanced re-re-re-releases but that's still not half as bad as, say, a Michael Bay version.

80's movies.  That's where 90% of today's movies come from, isn't it?  I think the remaining 10% come from the 70's.

And another 20% from comic books.

I know, that's like 120%, but it's Hollywood - they can do anything, and that's pretty much what they do.

I couldn't believe it when I saw Fright Night was remade. :( There's no cast of actors that could ever touch the group of people they had in the original. Chris Sarandon, Roddey McDowall, Amanda Beers, William Ragsdale, Stephen Geoffreys, Jonathan Stark. It was perfect.

    House 1 & 2
    Troll 1 & 2
    976-EVIL
Return Of The Living Dead I & II (There were more in the 90's up to 5 IIRC.)
    Day of the Dead
    Motel Hell
    The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
    Night Of The Demon
    Mothers Day
    Zombie Holocaust
    Cannibal Terror
    Hell Night
    My Bloody Valentine
    Porno Holocaust
Saturday The 14th (LOL! It was great!)
    The Boogens
    Fear No Evil
    Slumber Party Massacre
    Christine
    Pet Cemetery
    Sleepaway Camp 1 ~ 3
    Night Of The Comet
    Re-Animator
    Silent Night Deadly Night
    The Howling
    The Nail Gun Massacre

OMG ... the list goes on and on. These are just a few I remember from my VHS collection. I could take the thread to 10 pages. :) The 80's were a magical time for horror not to be seen again I'm afraid. :(

Bub ... I think I saw the Texas Chainsaw Massacre at the drive-in in Paramus in the 80's. It probably closed soon after that.

The Toxic Avenger got a standing ovation (I probably saw it in Secaucus).  There were scenes where you were able to identify local businesses on route 17 in north Jersey.

Poltergeist scared the bejesus out of me … and then A Nightmare on Elm Street just plain scared the crap out of me.

Bub - good list right there. I used to rent a couple of these every friday when I was baby-sitting my younger brother. He later blamed me for completely messing him up w/ those. But it worked - he kept quiet. lol

Rocky III - one of the first movies I saw in theater.  It had that catchy tune in it - what was that again? ;) I bet you they're anxiously waiting for Sly to pass so they can reboot that one franchise too.

And all the Arnold movies. Never been into that back then, but they're funny to watch now.

Egads! What a great decade for movies. I wanted to pick one, but when I started checking, the list kept growing. I could go on with more but called it quits. If someone hasn't been around and never saw the many great movies of this time, they should start renting and watching now. I wish movie making could return to this era.
