Great short article and touring background for Rush

Check this link if your not easily impressed with high end touring rigs. Pretty amazing what goes into Rushes tour rigs.

I wonder what Karyn would sound like issuing a directive through a 360kW rig...

Man, that would put even the latest version of NagBap to shame.

    That's not 'sound re-inforcement' that's sonic warfare!

One possible error in the picture description - I thought Geddy Lee used Jazz basses - that's what he used in the past. And at least one of them - the red one - has no pickguard.

I'm thinking that 40' by 20' screen might be just about right for a cozy home theater setup. At 80KW power consumption, though, I might need to install a new service transformer.

The most impressive factoid in the piece: it only takes them 60-90 minutes to break down. For most bands, it takes that long just to pull the drummer away from chatting up the barmaid.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I never even heard of a 20,000 watt amp - for audio. That blew me away. 360 Kw for audio.

Are you kidding?  I think some of the idiots that drive around So. Cal. with humongous subwoofers have that much in their car!

    That's looking into 2 ohms.

I saw them play at the United Center in Chicago a few years ago and I was impressed by the quality of the mix.  It was loud, but not oppressive  There were no piercing highs making people bleed from their ears courtesy of a burned out engineer with severe hearing loss.  There was a great deal of artistry in the sound engineering, not just killer equipment.

(Although, killer equipment does help.  Especially if you're a killer.  But, that's off-topic, I guess.)
