I really want to learn some Knopfler. I'm certain a day will come when I pick up a six string again. Also... if we are going for technical riffs the breakdown/solo rhythms in Megadeth's Lucretia are pretty aweseome... as is the solo... and the intro... well heck, pretty much the whole song aside from Dave's rotten vocals. lulz Guess I better post it now... Nothing complete without Knopfler. The guy doesn't even use a pick.
Sad in the overall analysis that Music Radar, Guitar Player, other brainless polls didn't tap into the resources here, maybe for the integrity or something real world. Real guitarists with blistered black fingers. Your guy's web pages prove that you got the moral authority to judge. What is posted here is way off the mark of the popularity contests, but way more real.

That's a good one. I love Rothery's solo from This Strange Engine, nothing flash but supremely melodic and such a great tone.

TNT influenced me allot. I think that they are my biggest influences for riffs. Maybe not for leads. Ronny have stated that they bobbled the guitar track 100 times to get this sound on 10000 Lovers. It might be, because I’m Norwegian. Lol

Vagabond was "TNT with Jørn Lande on vocal". Jørn was touring with Malmsteen later on. He is a capable vocalist.
