Greg's Midnight Car Service

I was just about to press the power button on the DAW computer last night about 9:15 to do some recording when the phone rang.
It was my brother. He had a flat tire (the tire I told him 2 weeks ago needed replacing because of some nasty cuts in the sidewall) and he didn't have a lug wrench.
He described where he was, so I headed out to help him. Drove all the way to Wilson, about 30 miles, and didn't see him on the side of the road anywhere. So I headed back the way I came, looking for his flashers on the westbound side of the road, the direction home. Still didn't see him.
I assumed that someone stopped and helped him change the tire. I don't have a cell phone to find out where he was, so I continued home, thinking he would be there. Nope, not there, either. So I called his cell from home, and he said "I'm right on (hwy.) 42. I've got my flashers on. You didn't see me?"
Head out again and as I approached Wilson I had my eyes on the left side of the road, presuming that would be the side he pulled off on. As I rounded a bend, I heard a honk and looked in the mirror and saw his flashers on the right side of the road. He had parked on the wrong side, kinda behind a wall, which is why I didn't see him.
Made a U-turn, picked him up and drove into Wilson (again) to the WalMart* to buy a lug wrench.
We go back and I change the tire for him. I had a flashlight (torch to our English bretheren and sisteren), but I didn't need it, the moon was so bright as mentioned in another thread.
Got home about 12:30.
So maybe I can get that track recorded today.

It's good he called when he did because in 10 more minutes the phone would have been unplugged and the answering machine turned down.

Was that right near Contentnea creek? Not quite to the 95 intersection.....

That's near a curve and I think there's a wall there..... and it's about 10 minutes from Wilson. It's also 4 miles from my house.

Sounds exactly like the place, Herb. It wasn't a wall; more like a barrier/guardrail-type thingy. On a curve to the right (going toward Wilson) at what looked like an abandoned country store.

    That's it.
If I had known you were that close and called you, you would have gotten a laugh out of watching him try to get in my Miata.
He is heavy, but he's still my brother.

I've never been to Jersey. Just got home from work awhile ago. I'll get started now. I should be there, um, about Tuesday.

I wouldn't go to Jersey if I was you.... I was born and raised there.... I have no kin left there that I care to see..... so no.....

They have some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation..... bad place to be if you're a legal CCW citizen.

That's nice of you to say, Mike.
We live together, are buying this house, and what with me being on part-time the last few months, he's been doing all the heavy lifting re: the bills.
I was happy to do it, and I'm sure it'll happen again.
Plus, it was a beautiful night for a drive in the country.
