Grid Not Following Snap Settings
Here we are again.... No matter how I change either the global or the prv snap, the grid "usually" will not change..... Smart Grid is OFF... I believe this to be a bug and I've reported it as such, but there's always the chance I'm doing something wrong... I've had trouble with the snap and grid issues since X1.... Anyone? Keni

Sorry I posted two threads on this... I guess it was bugging me, eh? ;-) I've found that if I change the grid to a discrete value and then back to follow snap it picks up the current snap setting, but will not change after that unless I again repeat the procedure of changing the grid settings back and forth.... Painfull... ;-( Keni

Pressing the N key twice forces an update for me.

Thanks Adrian... I tried it but that doesn't work here. I can only get it tio change the grid by changing the setting to a discrete value and back to the follow snap setting every time I change the snap value... Keni

I made a post or two about this very issue (directed somewhat at Cakewalk), in which I said: -- Grid lines in the piano roll should also follow the snap grid settings. This sometimes happens, but the way that the main snap setting and the piano roll's 'independent' snap setting work together is broken. Try playing around a bit with them to see what I mean. For instance, in piano roll, turn off the independent snap setting. Change the main one and you'll see the grid follow it. All well and good thus far. Now chose a triplet setting. Now the grid does not follow the main setting. Why the difference in behaviour? Now re-enable the independent snap setting. Set it to the same triplet value (e.g. 8th triplets). The grid still does not update. Now change the main snap setting to some other triplet setting, e.g. 1/4 note triplets. Only now does the grid update and show the 8th note triplets. Basically, you need to need be updating the grid state machine whenever there's a change of state in either the main or local snap settings, and that includes enable/disable. -- I think both the piano roll and track view grid lines should follow the snap settings better.

I have noticed exactly the same behaviour. Constantly having to fiddle around to get the correct grid can be a pain.

Same problems here. If I have the Smart Grid setting turned off and I select a grid resolution it does not change. I would think that with the Smart setting off the grid should immediately follow whtever resolution I choose.

Is this a new issue in X3? I remember brundlefly mentioning it some time ago. I could be wrong, though.

It's different to X2b, certainly. The X3c release notes mention snap settings fixes, so perhaps it's sorted now?

This was what I found in X2b... I couldn't get it to respond twice in a row... Now in X3c I think it's working ok. The one button N does enable whichever snap you're using... But the change of visual Status in the PRV's snap still has color showing that Sonar will respond to that value in PRV when N (Global) enables it... I guess think of the PRV snap as a subset of Global which can be applied or not... So the button remaining colored is a bit of a throw off... I can live with that... If I have the prv snap I seem to get the grid I expect related to the snap setting (Global) and when I enable the PRV snap, it then changes to following the PRV Snap setting instead.... I'll look more and see if it's intermittent... I thought I looked pretty carefully, but I've been wrong before.... ;-) Keni
