Groove Clip-looping results into distorted sound!

When I turn a sound clip into a clip loop the result is a very distorted sound .
It doesn't seem to do this allways.
What am I doing wrong?

    explanation of steps ?
in other words, how are you turning your loops in to groove clips ?

should be select a portion of a clip/bounce to clips/select groove clip looping.
if your groove clips are stretched, turn of clip stretching in the track inspector and also change the tempo by selecting the correct length of your loop by inserting a length in the inspector.

I didn't do the bounce clip step. What does this do anyway?
Tried it, same result. A totally distorted clip.
I did have the stretching problem on another clip so thanks for the advice on that.
By the way I'm using X2a.
