Guess I'm just stupid?
So I cannot draw a volume envelope? Is this true? If not, how I have clicked my heart away. I used the mouse to write a volume change with the fader. Then in track view there were nodes on the envelope. But I could not clcik on them.? What the heck? So it changed that much? from 853? The help was totally useless (for me anyway) I have Scotts book, I need to get it out of the other room I guess. Hopefully the "secrets" are in there. Sorry to vent-but sometimes illogical crap like this really ticks me off. First time I even tried this 853-it was a piece of cake.

Seth I am one of folks who have always liked X1 and spoke that way. Been around since CWPA 6. Just never used the advanced tools. But still, it should be a bit more intuitive, don't ya think? That's not a question looking for an answer Thanks for the response.

I can see what you mean stratman70 as I've struggled at times with the "Smart Tool". So, count me in as one of the "stupid". Tom

But still, it should be a bit more intuitive, don't ya think? That's not a question looking for an answer Thanks for the response. They are very intuitive, you just have to get used to them. From the beginning I set out to learn 3 things: the Smart Tool, Screensets, and how Automation changed. I spent probably 20 minutes reading up on these three things in the manual. After experimenting, it all clicked and made sense. If I were you I would simply spend some time in the manual. It'll come to you!

Let's keep in mind that "intuitive" and "what I am used to" are not the same thing. To my mind, the smart tool is far more intuitive than than the tools in 8.xx. I doubt the OP is stupid, but, as with any new thing, you have to learn it, and then use it enough to get comfortable with it; then, like magic, it becomes "intuitive." X1 is superior to 8.xx, IMO, but to reap the benefits, it takes a little effort and a couple paradigm shifts.

spanky They are very intuitive, you just have to get used to them.. Something which "you just have to get used to" is exactly the opposite of "intuitive." The latter means that one can tell how to use tools in a program just by the way they're logically laid out. If something takes more time to learn, it's not necessarily a bad thing - a lot of the meat in software isn't immediately obvious. - Don't know why, just felt moved to say that. I guess I just see "intuitive" being used so often when it really doesn't apply. Randy B.

I guess I just see "intuitive" being used so often when it really doesn't apply. Randy B. Hmm... I do't know. Maybe when you are used to the "old" 8.5 interface it is more difficult to adapt to X1. I can only say it costed me less time to switch from 8.5 to X1 than it took me to learn to use the 8.5 interface. And now I am used to X1 I would not go back to the "old" interface. For me (and that is strictly me - i cannot speak for anyone else), the X1 interface is indeed more "clear" then the 8.5 interface ever was... But - everyone his likings.... Now - excuse me. I have to go to the next concert. I am having a great time here at the "North Sea Jazz Festival". Just saw Paul Simon and B.B. King.. Time for Alain Clark and Larry Graham... Or maybe Michiel Borstlap... man... too much choice here... See you all...

I think the onus is on Adobe this time. Mind you, I've read so much material lately that I'm not sure. And seeing as how Apple, Google etc, are tying real hard to eradicate this Flash dinosaur, there's just no working our way around it.

Aaaah... got it now. Yup, it's Adobe that needs to get moving on this. But worthy of note is that you can use the 32 bit version of IE (Win 7), which is also installed. It works fine.

garrigus Skyline_UK None of these videos load for me. I use IE9. Is there a problem with IE9 and these videos? Hey John, Are you having the same problem with the videos over at DigiFreq? Just curious... http://www.digifreq.com/digifreq/videos.asp Firefox works great, by the way. Scott, Here's a summary of what I've found with some experimentation: - All your videos work for me in IE9 32 bit. - The Cakewalk videos will only work in IE9 32 bit if I click the tiny 'Compatibility' mode button at the top of the IE9 screen. - Neither your videos nor Cakewalk's work in IE9 64 bit even if the 'Compatibility' mode button is clicked. Are your videos in Flash like Cakewalk's? Odd that yours work straight off without having invoke compatibility mode. John

I agree with all the responses to my post. Had I read Scotts book or watched the video, yes I would have avoided frustration. But I also agree with RandyB. I ama retired Computer Tech but still have a day job using a computer all day long. I am a power user IMHO. I'm an old dog, many years as a M$Certified tech, made a good living. But even typing in envelope"anything" in the help got me no where. I do realize that 853 was very similar to all the rest of the Sonars. So, I guess I expected some of the same. I still have a positive outlook on X1. I am just so used to launching a software program (any program) and being able to get around nicely without reading anything. I suppose the point here for me is: X1 is digfferent and you have to really read a bit and watch a few vids. So I will Thanks to everyone-That includes you too Bub

I'm on Win7 64 and IE9 automatically installed itself just a few days ago. It's playing the videos well. Is there a special 64bit IE9? Maybe I just go lucky with a 32bit download?
