Guitar AMP Simulations - What Combinations?
I finally got round to picking up Amplitube in the current group buy and have been testing out for the last couple of days. I already have Guitar Rig, TH2 and Waves GTR and have being trying actually combing models from each one on the same amp and settings. I must admit I have found for some my usual go to sounds that so far Guitar rig and Amplitube combined gave me some great results and a more "full" sound. Just curious if anyone has any other combinations and blends that have worked for them. Thanks!

I mix Amplitube with a Blackstar HT-5. Combining the two has been really nice.

I really like the cabinet models in Guitar Rig's Control Room 'Pro' (since GR 5). So I often combine the amp and fx models from Scuffham S-Gear 2 (my usual amp emulator of choice) with cabs from GR!

I saw a trick once that can be useful. Use the line out, from your amp's effects loop, and use cabinet emulations on that signal. The line out won't sound that great by itself but having the ability to use many cabinet emulations is cool.

That's a great tip! I usually gig with a studio monitor turned side ways for live use, but at practice use my StealthPedal with an Acoustic combo amp. Sounds great there too.

I need to find out how to do this! I have both of these as well. For most things - I use S-gear over GR. It would be nice to get the best out of both! Thanks

I hate the fuzzes in Guitar Rig. I have a freebie from Auraplug that I use in front.

What?!? You don't use an iLoud?!?
I do use my iLoud for acoustic practices with another project. Its an acoustic duo, so its more appropriate than my main band. We're a 9 piece band, so I use an old studio monitor that has seen far better days. Still clean and loud, but its partner passed when a friend's kid wanted to see what poking holes in the speaker would sound like. The iLoud is FAR lighter, smaller and has a 10 hour battery life depending on the volume used. So, I prefer it. in fact it sits on my desk to my right next to my phone. Here's a picture of it on my desk. strikinglyhandsome1 He's waiting for a sale!
IK employees get IK products for free, its one of the perks. An awesome one at that. You could always apply if you'd like, we have been hiring lately...

Thanks for the responses, I have spent a good chunk of time this week trying lots of different combinations. One thing I do like about using Sims is the ability to try so many different models on the same DI track with very little work. My amp of choice is usually Vox followed by either Orange or Marshall. I don't tend to go for the High Gain sound very often of which there seems to be a lot of models for. I have struggled to get a good Vox tone before with emulations but finally after mixing versions and for the first time digging into impulse responses I have finaly got a tone I am pleased with. It ended up being a blend of Amplitube copper top and Guitar Rig AC box into a AC30 Cab Impulse Response using Le Cab 2 (also a great new free discovery) Amplitube gave me some nice crunch and bite and Guitar Rig filled the sound ESP the Bass that seemed lacking in Amplitube alone and then the cab, well that really glued and formed the tone well. I must admit I was somewhat skeptical about the impulse route but having tried several over the last week I must same I am very impressed by what they offer. If anyone has any links to recommend or share I would be interested!! I have also managed to get round to trying Scuffham which I have heard good things about was great and is definitely on the to buy list. Also I picked up the Peavey HP $12 deal and was pleased with that for the price it was a bargain and gave me more blending options. The Classic 30 Amp in that package was also very "VOX" like in tone and will be worth some more experimentation.
