Apparently, a Martin OM-45 Deluxe is worth a lot of money.

This is the guy putting some(?) of the guitars up for auction ...

It seems that Martin is worth a lot of money because very few were made (well, to be fair, any pre-war Martin in good shape is probably worth a lot of money - make that a whole lot of money by my standards ).

Personally I've never been impressed by the argument that something becomes ridiculously valuable just because it's rare. I'd rather have a roomful of nice instruments I could actually (try to) play than just one "of only 14 ever made".

Still, there's a lot of nice stuff there! I always especially like seeing harp guitars after being introduced to them by the works of (the sadly departed) Michael Hedges.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

If that was the case, then Bapu must be priceless, ya?

His perfection of mass producing posts may have diluted his value somewhat.
