Guitar Port?

I can`t get GTP3 to work with my guitar port. Any ideas? I`ve selected it as my soundcard etc and everything appears to be fine, but when I try to record, the program crashes and I have to hit the reset button on the PC.

    Good on you pete.
Do you have direct acces to a Guitarport? I ask because I have been building a library of manuals for various hardware that I don't personally own. The Line6 documents are hard to get if you don't have one.
Run with this. I'll stand down. Let's see how it goes.

    Hi everyone,
OK, my system is: AMD 4600, 1GB memory, XP Media center edition.
No error messages flash up before the program freezes and I can`t soft reset the PC. the settings I`m using in GTP3 are:
    Options/midi devices-Guitarport
    Options/Audio/Playback Recording & Timing-Guitarport
    Options/Audio/Input & Output drivers-Guitarport

I set the input monitor on track 1 to "on" and the "arm" switch to "on".

As soon as I press record, the program freezes.

First, uncheck the midi box. I'm not sure if guitarport supports midi, but I know Guitartracks does not. What drivers are you running? My line6 stuff is running on asio drivers. Check the audio options and check your drivers. Let us know what you see.

He probably should defragment his disk drive. If its really bad (like Randy's singing) then it could cause weird things to happen to your machine. Defragmenting is a really good practice to get into.
If you go to control-panel -> admistrative tools-> event viewer. it might display more information in there as to a possible cause.

And no, I won't be mean and suggest to call Cakewalk technical support.....

    nikh,
I found some interesting things at Line6/GuitarPort Support that may be helpful. I am not a registered user, so I couldn't get to the manuals.
As Randy indicated earlier, neither GTP nor GuitarPort support MIDI. Don't set it up as a MIDI device. That could be a big part of the problem.
The crash seems to indicate a driver or setup problem. If I could get ahold of a PDF manual, I would have a better idea of what needs to happen.
Hang in there. This looks like a cool bit of hardware, and Eric Johnson likes it. Works for me.

I don't get the Cakewalk support comment. They have been very helpful to me.
