Guitar Rig 4 LE - Reinstall

Hi there.

For some reason, all my presets and lists of Amps etc in my GR4 LE Browser have disappeared. I tried restoring to factory defaults in the GR4 LE Options. However, this didn't work.

I saw a thread (detailing a similar problem) over in the NI forums which the Mods closed for some reason which ir not every helpful. I've no idea what I done to deserve this. This obviously sucks as I don't know how to avoid it happening again.

Anyway, I thought I'd just uninstall GR4 and reinstall it. Thing is, I cannot find it (isolated) on my installation discs or my downloads.

Do I have to uninstall and reinstall all of X1 from scratch?

Yes, but do a selective install and just select Guitar Rig 4 Le.  I just re-installed on my notebook 15 minutes ago.

    Thanks Jumbicat

Where will I find the specific install of GR4LE on the discs and when do I get the option to choose which of  the installation components (i.e. GR4) to install?

Alternatively, which disc is it on so that I can Explore and navigate to installer exe?

    Thanks

Unfortunately, it's embedded in the SonarX1 Part 1 executable.

How did you manage to do a selective reinstall then?

    Did you lose any projects?

    It's okay...I figured it out. It's a customized install.

Did I loose projects? No. I backed my projects up then reformatted my drive (partition) for a clean OS and Sonar build so I can't address that.  During the install you'll come to a Minimal or Full installation screen. Just deselect everything and select Guitar Rig 4 LE and it hopefully will over ride the previous install.

Thanks for your help Jumbicat. Much appreciated.

It appears to be working now...but for how long? I've no idea how the problem occured so I'm a bit worried it may happen again.

I've been through god knows how many installs and updates. They all look like the same things and take forever. The reinstallation (and updates) would try the patience of a saint. I was still at it after 1.5 hours.

The installer dialogues say: "This may take several minutes" - Yeh right....lol

    Thanks again

    Stewart

Actually, I appear to have been left with less presets than I had in the first place.

I reckon I'll have to seek NI Support as I've tried rescans and factory restore to no avail.

I haven't had much luck with Guitar Rig...The last OS/Sonar rebuild, I canceled the Guitar Rig application altogether. I have enough floor pedals to get the desired guitar effect so don't use it.

    Re:Guitar Rig 4 LE - Reinstall 2012/04/14 19:12:37 (permalink)
Hi All, I have an installation problem with GR4 LE. When I initially installed Sonar X1 producer, for some reason GR4 LE was not installed. So after upgrading to Producer Expanded with all bells and whistles I go to reinstall GR4 LE using the original Sonar setup exe file where GR4 LE is embedded. Now as a stand alone program it's registered and activated through NI Service Center and working perfectly. However when I now open Sonar X1 Expanded, it wants a registration code for the original X1 Producer Serial number. I have all my registration and ser, numbers from My Account at Cakewalk. So I tried to enter the correct ser number for the original Sonar X1 producer AND Expanded, without any success. Luckily I created a restore point before making any changes! I have had to roll back all the changes made and now I have no GR4 LE. Does GR4 LE come as a separate program that can be downloaded rather than the embeded version in Sonar? Anyone have any ideas? Cheers, Shogun

Make sure you have the latest patch - download should be in your NI account if you have registered the product. I had the same scenario and after I installed the patch all amps etc re-appeared.

You might need to download the latest patch.

You do need to get the 4.2.2 ver update from the NI website. The install from the Sonar disc is flawed somehow...because none of the amps show up until you update it to 4.2.2 .

Shogun...I went thru this exact same thing a couple weeks ago. You have to enter your original serial # (obviously) when you do the GR4 install from the original Sonar disc. When you do...it screws up the registry on your computer since you've upgraded to expanded. If you know how to edit your registry you can fix it, but if you're not comfortable doing that...you're better off with the fix you did with the restore point. I got both the 64 bit and 32 bit versions of GR4 working but it was two separate edits in the registry. If you're comfortable editing your registry...I can walk you through it on the phone within a few minutes. Let me know if and when...and I'd be glad to help.

Thanks Chuck...I've edited my registry before, so it wasn't something new for me. AND...CW support walked me through one of the edits on the phone...the other I figured out on my own. I just know that it would be a time saver for anyone who runs across this problem to have someone who's already been down that road to walk them through it :) .

Mike, I sent you an email. I'll be in the studio most of the day tomorrow (Monday) if you'd like to give me a call. It won't take but a couple of minutes to fix your registry once you've re-installed the GR4 LE from your Sonar disc.
