Guitar Rig 4 Loads in Mono in X1!

I upgraded to Guitar Rig 4 Pro.  If I load it into the effects bin of X1, it loads in as a mono effect??

Since I am playing a mono instrument (the electric guitar), I am using a mono channel.  But the program is a stereo plug-in.  It should load in to the effects bin with two ticks showing on the bottom of the effect indicating that it is a stereo plug-in, but it only shows one tick, indicating that it is mono??  Can anyone offer help here.  Thanks.

    Hi bstrong,

There is a problem with how X1 uses a stereo fx on a mono track. I've reported it as a bug and it was submitted to developement with no eta on a fix.

At this point the only thing you can do is manually change your track interleave settings back to stereo, but they won't stay there. They will keep reverting back to mono, and you won't be able to bounce or export the track in stereo.

It is definately a bug in X1 and it would probably help if you submitted a bug report too. The more people report it, the better the chance it will get fixed quicker.

The only way around it at this point is to create a bus, load Guitar Rig on it and then create a send to that bus on the the track you want to use Guitar Rig on.

In addition, if you look at IN, it is MONO (L only). You can click on the R, and the effect will be in stereo with a mono input.

Bub - is there some reason it has to be a SEND from the track instead of setting the output of the track to the Guitar Rig bus?

So the ol' interleave chestnut is finally getting a bit of look from someone other than bub/me

BTW, it has nothing to do with GR, GR just happens to get the bulk of the look since it's bundled into sonar (it would do this with AT, vandal, shred, whatever)

You can change your input to stereo and this will be solved. You can RECORD mono and then set your input to stereo and that will work. Not ideal but it's a workaround or you can do what bub does

You're right. You could do it both ways.

    Thanks for pointing that out.

I have a project open now with GRP4. Only the L is lit and I'm getting stereo effects. iirc all that L+R is, is your ASIO inputs which shouldn't have any effect on the output being stereo or mono.

Edit: I just tried turning L+R both on and just having R on (R is the channel I have my guitar plugged in to on my FTU) and it has no effect on the output being stereo. Another thing I do is, I mute hardware monitoring so I don't get a mix of the dry signal with the effect.

I don't know about how it works with X1 (I have 8.5.3 going until the patch). But if you click on the L or R and both are up, you get stereo effect. I have tested this and am sure it is the case. As far as using a stereo input - that depends on your method of input.

Mine says stereo for the input in both GR4 standalone and in Sonar (same soundcard, but I did test both ways), but if only L OR R is highlighted - you get mono effects.

Simple way to test is to have a split rig with unique effects that are panned hard L or R.

    Hi hockeyjx,

I just tried creating my own custom split rig the way you suggested. I put a delay on the left and the stone phaser on the right with reverb. I tried all different combo's of the L+R input and everything was stereo no matter what combo I had set (other than silence when none were selected). I tried it in X1 and 8.5.

It must be something with the way our sound cards handle the input signal. I have mine set so I don't hear the dry signal, I only hear the effects. I tried it both with the dry signal too and got stereo effects.

I'm using a Fast Track Ultra and I'm using input 2 which shows up in Sonar as (right input).

I think that is a good theory to test out. Sorry I couldn't help, but let us know how it goes.
