Guitar Rig 4 PRO
I can upgrade to NI's GR 4Pro for 49.50. Last day and I'm on the fence about it. Is it really worthy or not. Hard to say from only using the LE Version of 4 and 3. What cha think?

ABSOLUTELY! You will love it and the equivalent products out there will cost you a bunch more since this is a hugely discounted deal. I don't know your intended use, but I use it with RealStrat (virtual instrument) and with live players. I have a Line 6 Pod v.2 for live players because most axmen are familiar with it. Since I've had Guitar Rig, though, I would make sure I captured a dry signal as well out of the Pod so I would have the Guitar Rig option later. (That's always a good policy with any effect.) GR is much more flexible. Tip: Search this forum regarding the upgrade process. A couple of us stumbled around trying to do the upgrade. Not hard--it just wasn't crystal clear what to do and NI, good company though it is, will take a while to get back to you if you need help.

I paid $99 back when I got it and I didn't regret it. It's on every one of my projects. It's good for guitar, bass, vocals.

I just upgraded to the full version. After upgrading to the full Kontakt 4 I received a special offer voucher for $35 so put it towards the Guitar Rig offer and woo hoo! Got it for less that $20 and loving it.

Is it best to uninstall 3LE & 4LE first?

FWIW, I still have 3LE installed, installed 4PRO over the top of 4LE and don't have any problems. YMMV... I think Amplitube might sound a tad more realistic, but I like the GR interface better. If you're happy with what you have in LE, you won't regret upgrading for that price.

Good choice. I use it and Amplitube for all of non mic'd guitar parts.

drumr Is it best to uninstall 3LE & 4LE first? IIRC you don't install anything if you have 4LE installed. Switch 4LE to demo mode (from menu option) then activate using the serial that you get when you upgrade and voila full version.

Thanks for starting this thread. When I read it I immediately went over to NI website and was able to grab the upgrade for $49. A no brainier to me. Great program that will get a lot of use! Also - upgrading was very easy. Just installed with new serial, activated and all is well.

A1, I am just about to purchase Kontakt 4. The sales guy said I should pay $120 more and get Komplete. Keeping in mind that I lean towards organic sounds more than electronica, would you recommend I go with Komplete? I know we are wandering off topic a bit, but seemed like a logical question... Thanks. EDIT: Just realized my comment may not have been clear. I meant that I use more natural-type instruments (even if they are digital samples), like piano, guitar, violins, horns, etc. and fewer synthesizer sounds. I love electronic stuff and was doing it way back when synths needed patch chords, but my current writing doesn't use that a lot except for the occasional synth pad.

It comes with a ton of packs good for organic sounds, tons of fx with kore player and reaktor. Battery is a cool drum sampler. The synths(Massive, Absynth, and FM8) would be just something extra to fool around with. Plus you get the full guitar rig which to me is worth the extra cash alone. Komplete is the best deal out there when it comes to music software. there really is something for everyone.

komplete 8 is around the corner so they'll be dealing on 7. Then next summer get 8 when they do their summer 1/2 price upgrade.

Great advice, guys, thanks! There will be some duplication since I have Ivory II Grand Pianos and already have the full Guitar Rig, but sounds like there is a ton of other great stuff there. I will definitely order this. I am getting more and more into virtual instruments and slowly retiring my hardware samplers. It's cool doing everything in the box. In fact, I am thinking about buying a mega-laptop so I can take it, my ilok, and my elicenser, and do some writing and arranging when I travel. (It would also be good as a back-up.) I just have to think about the cost compared to how much I will use it.

FWIW I am experimenting with using GR4 Pro and KVR (free ir tool) with free IR's I found on the net. Gives more options with GR4 than just the cab sims that come with it.
