Glyn: I don't really want to waste my time searching the web(on a machine that isn't connected sans for a patching cycle) on sounds I may/may not use. When I am in song/sound mood, I don't want to check a store and see what they may have and then apply. I just want to dial in what is in my head at that time. On the demo side, it really should be the full version instead of the empty shell host. Give me 30 days with at least the base program/ core components to decide. That would help me a great deal. Perhaps I will contact IK to ask, but I still think they have a crappy way of doing business. Post Message

Amplitube for the Soldano. It's very good. The Orange amps are also good but you only get one channel. The VHT is worthless. The gain knob is greyed out. Try before you buy. Only purchase what you need. Very clunky interface. Seems pretty cpu intensive. Pod Farm is the best overall in my opinion. Great interface, 64 bit, you can insert individual components. It automates nicely within Sonar. Fairly inexpensive and you can purchase an iLok, hardware dongle or single machine version. The best Fender emulations for my tastes. Lots of bass amps. The pedals are all really good. Love the Chandler. Guitar Rig has crazy routing capabilities. 64 bit. Decent interface. Lots of presets ordered by style and artist. As mentioned earlier, the registration process is a PITA. A good all in one plug. GTR 3.5 is my least favorite. I also have Nigel with my UAD cards and Studio Devil that I never use. My desert island plug would be Pod Farm. Most of the people I work with don't want to use amp plugins. Ever. But when I'm recording myself it's all I use.

Mike, I'm with you on that one.
The Chandler tunbe overdrive is the secret weapon of pod farm. it makes everything I try with it sound awsome.
Just for that, I couldn't do without podfarm

Mr. Mike Pod Farm is the best overall in my opinion. Lots of bass amps. But they all sound like some big-shot engineer from the eighties came in and decided they must have no real low end at all! The Bass knobs are set at 120 Hz where it should be 60 (or at least that's the way it sounds to my ears! My favorite for bass is the Studio Devil VBA Pro (don't really like their guitar amp models). It sounds tight and deep and has a very usable graphic EQ (like any good bass amp should)! Sven

Eric Beam + Try that in a hotel room at three am when your next door neighbors are a bunch of 7 feet tall Russian athletes who look like they've been wrestling w/ grizzly bears since the tender age of 7. POD Farm suddenly sounds not just ok, but terrific. ;)

I like AcmeBarGig Head Case. It has some great tones. And with the amp builder you can get lots of tones if you like to tweak. It has the best dynamics out of GR 4, some of the Amplitube 3 custom hands I have tried. I have learned recently that there are a lot of free amp sims that work very well. You will have to work with them like a real amp. But they have some out there thAt are more than worth it.

I just demo'd Amplitube3 and that thing is smokin..didnt use to come in Sonar3 years ago? I was wondering is there a cheaper alternative than the Stealth pedal to control volume and wha fx. the 65 Fender Twin and the JC 120 were mind blowingly clean on my Epiphone Emperor II....HAPPY EASTER YAW..
