Could you add a statement on how many inputs can be simultaneously recorded ? I THINK it's just 2 (stereo L/R) .. yes ?

And a separate comparison from GT4 to current SONAR packages in same price range - like MC5 or HS7 ?

    Thanks !

    Mel,

Yes, its 2 for recording- so i do believe that the "32 simultaneous" is a little confusing.  Sure there are 32 that can be recorded upon.  And sure there are 32 that can be played back at the same time- but for recording tracks all at the same time its NOT 32, it's a stereo pair (2).  I hope that clears up some confusion.

    This doesn't sound correct???
    Can anyone verify this?
Surely if someone has something like a Tascam US1641 (able to send 14 tracks) it would be compatible????
I hope so, I want to upgrade to GTP4 and have the Tascam mentioned above.

    Thanks,

    Hey guys,

As a GTP3 user I upgraded to GTP4 thinking it would be superior in everyway. However I was disappointed to find out that GTP3 gave me more inputs when recording. I could use both my mic/instrument inputs and line in puts simultaneously but this feature is not included in GTP4. A bit of a backwards step and frustrating since I paid to upgrade. This means I have to choose between line input and mic/inst input everytime I record.

Apparently I have to upgrade to sonar home studio 7. Either that or I keep using GTP3...

Kate, I have GT2 and GT3 and a while back purchased Sonar Home Studio 6. The Studio choice has proven to be unusable for me, I guess due to its complexity, and possibly my age ;-) Last couple projects I did I could not even get my Sonar to select my M-Audio 410 (firewire) box and every time I exit a project it looses its i/o configuration. These issues never came up with the GT series. I was reading the comparison chart on a post from you and I am thinking about ditching the Sonar and going with GT4. Any advice for me? -Ron
