Since when are Truckers ever permitted to perform orchestral symphonies?

Ah!  a fiddling orchestra!  Strings are wonderfully dreadful and dynamic on 2 listens.

The plucking guitar is laughable fun herein ... as it dances in the lows (transorming into a pianoid device for a second or 2) and as you gleefully shred onwards toward the finale.

But, 1:24 is a serious immersion ... that awakens the soul (I'm a strings fanatic though) ... and the string symphony is a joy to my soul.

In sum:

Astonishing, wonderful, exceedingly lovely ... but wreckless, in known violation of Florida truck-stop codes, etc.

... 10/10

Dude!

I am at work and laughed my butt off and everyone around me are now looking at me!!!  Because of YOU !!!!   :-)

I loved your comments!!!

and you are correct....the Florida statutes of strangely laughing truck drivers is a serious offense at truck stops........

See what kind of mayhem you get me into!!!  :-)  I should  a known bettter than to trust you!!!

Seriously Philip....

thank you for stopping by and listening and commenting.....even if it does get me in trouble! that is what I like about you.

Nice composition.   Very pretty.  I kept thinking maybe this would have been cool as TWO guitars.

Hi Clifford,

At 0:32 there's an interval between the french horns and the strings that doesn't work (a b9).  I call that the "unemployment interval" ;-).   The offending note needs to move by step (either up or down) to remove that dissonance.  The other option would be to bring the strings an octave lower.

This also needs a little more love on the mix.  Even Garritan sounds can me made to sound quite pleasing.

Good work!

I was wondering how long it would take before some rasied the "Offending " note !!!  he he.....

thank you sir.........However that note was placed there ON PURPOSE....

I like the crunch it provides...... in my mind composition needs to be about sound and silence, black and white, positive and negative conssance and dissonance.....

That note takes you out of the comfort zone for just a second and makes you think....now if it dragged on and on well then thats not so good but for just a breif second.....but thnak you for saying something about it...

As far as making Garriton sound good.....I do know you are correct but as simple as this project is (meaning there are only 24 tracks in it... 12 midi and 12 audio) it gave me fits on trying to make it work out.... the keyswitching instruments kept switching when and where they felt like it..Like the guitar part....is just kept switching itself to pplay all harmonics instead of regular notes.....the aria player has it's own mind made up on just how much vol. it wants to give me..I tried to adjust the faders and they would slide right back to their pre disposed position.....and there were other issues I do not wish to expose on an open forum board......

Now since this work was an expeeriment on my part (even if I did have a whole lot of time invested) I think I will just move on......

but thank you for the encouragement.......I really do appreciate it....

Clifford

so I am going to wait....and wait ...and wait untill I can get a pretty good deal on one of the bigger packages and invest.....

Wow - you're really on a creative roll since you returned to the fold Clifford. Very impressive composition. As others have said, the actual sounds could be better, but I don't think that should be allowed to detract too much from your work here - it really is good. Dunno if they're still available, but there used to be some pretty good orchestral  sounds available on a free version of EWQL Play I think it was on KVR audio site -  might be worth a look.

I was browsing and listening and wasn't gonna comment and then thought of Robbies post:) Anyway, nicely done. Very nice piece. Don't quite understand why, if you can actually play the guit part, you don't.

Well now that's a good question.....it has several parts to the answer
1. I only have one good mike which will only do justice (sort of ) to one part of the guitar
2. when I wrote this composition I was really only writing for experimentation......I really was not thinking of this as a performance piece......If you notice I have a LOT of DIFFERENT techniques in here....I was thinking of it more and a teaching tool .....well ok ....maybe kind of a draft of what may come.....I did Play it as I wrote it......(one thing I always try to do is play what I have written....and most of my parts I play in no matter how much I need to pratice the part and no matter if I am not even proficient at the instrument.....(I limit myself to two maybe three instruments...guitar , keyboard and shaker........oh and the occasional synth part but I label that as keyboard)
3.I thought (silly me) that this would be a quick down and dirty kind of work.....(WRONG) ...I've had it hanging around now for about a year
4. I had some one who at that time I highly respected Poo Poo on it and I took it to heart and filed the composition in the waste bin......(but knowing better!)
5. finally I just did not want to get myself all worked up and have to do it 100 times or more when I knew that the samples were not going to be all that great.......kind of anti-climatic....

I do not know if this explains it any better but it is my story and I'm sticking to it! :-)

HOW DARE YOU MAKE ME SOUND BAD BY DOING THIS!!!!!!!!!!

TRUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! FOR DOING SO!!!!!!!!

I'm only kidding man, this was great!!!!! and I absolutely loved the breaks and transitions in this. Maybe someday I'll be able to do something so cool.

You took this tune to another level, another world when listening and that's something I very rarely get a chance to listen to.

FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed your Satie too

Wow, very nicely composed and expressed. This composition really impressed me. Reminds me a bit of George Martins work. I really enjoyed this one and if I get a chance, I'm sure I'll be back for a second listen. So much going on here.

Hi Cliff,

This is really nice!

Would love to hear you break out that guitar and play along, though.

Even if it's recorded with one mic.

Great job on the composition.

Sounds good to me.  I listen to classical once in a while and I do like Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez.  Kind of short compared to pieces like that.

Hi Clifford, this is a real improvement and just shows the how good the original composition is. Now go and play a real guitar on it and you've got a winner.

Cliff this is a lovely composition and beautifully done.  And you're saying you do NOT have much experience with this type of piece????  I think what I heard sounded alot more like someone who'd been doing it for quite some time.  Very ambitious undertaking, and well executed to my ears.

It was fun reworking this piece.  Even with the GPO version I could hear that the basic orchestration was correct, so getting it to sound better with more expensive toys was quick work.  In short, I used LA Scoring Strings, Wallander (WIVI) Brass and Woodwinds, Omnisphere guitar (which is recycled Hans Zimmer guitars), 2C Audio Breeze reverbs and the UAD Studer and Fairchild plugins.

Thank you very much for stopping by and listening and commenting. Who knows may it will happen...but at the moment I am writing the next one which will be much more involved....and it will feature live guitar.....I promise.....
Thank you

Well conceerto's do not come any better than the Rodrigo....that is the bar to llive up to....and your right....my little work is much shorter than the Rodrigo......but I will make you a deal.....When I am able to be lucky enough to write 1/2 as good as that ......I promise to donate it to chairty and hopefully help some one with it...

Thank you for stopping and listening and commenting.........
(you know Vivaldi is not 1/2 bad either.....)

Thank you for listening a second time as well .....it is nice to hear comments about the comparison......and yes ..... Jonas really did do a wonderful job on it.......I know that this took valuable time from his business to give me such a fine product just so that everyone hear could enjoy it so please send a thank you out to him as well.....He deserves it......

Now about that guitar and one mike idea............
Seriously now...I am working on my second one and this time I will be playing on it.....I am trying to expand the concept...the ensemble and the parameters a bit so it may be a while before it will be ready.......but you guys will be the first to know....
thank you

Philz
Well.......with out going into an over abundant amount of detail.....I started out in finger style folk guitar.....moved into rock bands.....(not too good at it) played in some country bands, ... Pick up bands....wedding bands...etc.....and then finished up in a classical music university with classical guitar being my instrument.....

but this was my first serious try at writing a classical guitar and orchestra composition.....I am already  writing more......but if you heard my last couple of song posts (this was the third and there is one more coming) you would have heard 3 very different styles of music...The last the (including this one) are all on my soundclick site...and the third (or next one for me to post ) will be the crazyiest yet........so you might say that I am kind of a mutt .........

Thanks for listening and commenting.....I really do appreciate it ....

Thank you to everyone.

Clifford

Wow--just listening to the rework of this beautiful piece.  Money does help, doesn't it?  :-)  Way to go, Jonas!  And that's gotta make you feel good, doesn't it, Cliff...that someone/s? felt like helping you with this?  Cool!  :-)

Thank you so much for the wonderful job you did on my work. I do understand that I was a little insistant on some points and you were gracious enough to make them happen.

You did good Sir!
