Guitar hangers: flat against wall or cantilevered at an angle?
Guitar hangers: flat against wall or cantilevered at an angle? I've never used the flat against the wall kind but I need to clear up some floor space. Which are best?

I don't think there is much difference in terms of the guitar one over the other. I used to work in a large music shop in the early 80's. We had lots of hangers back then. I think it is a matter of the flat hangers are good for seeing the whole guitar and it looks great. Less guitars in given space. Angled hangers means quite a few more guitars within the same space. Depends how many guitars you have got. You have to be a little more careful obviously removing and putting back guitars on angled hangers if they are close. Very important stuff! Of course you could still use angled hangers and put them further apart. Frank Gambale's mother used to clean all the guitars in the shop. She was a lovely lovely woman.

Those particular hangers are for slat wall. I bought my hangers from a company called Wallacher and they have served me well.

Flat wall mounts are great for Strats, shallow stuff. You will need the others for Acoustic/wide bodied guitars

The photos are for slat wall but the company will send out flat plate versions for no extra charge. Do the flats ones have any issue with the guitar rubbing on the wall? best, mike

Wallacher Mod Bod Those particular hangers are for slat wall. I bought my hangers from a company called Wallacher and they have served me well. I also use the Wallacher wall mounts for my guitars as well. I have them anchored into the studs in the wall I'm hanging three of my guitars on. I do use ones about the length and style of the top one Mike posted. The guitars hang straight down about an inch or two from the wall. I keep my acoustic cased when not in use.

I guess it really depends on the space you have for the number of guitars you have. You will get more guitars on a given wall space at an angle than flat. Pictures would be nice after you decided and get them mounted.

I only have a couple of the fancy hangers but both of them have leather sleeves over the bracket that holds the neck. They are from Martin and guaranteed not to react with poly or lacquer. Some of the stands and hangers use a foam covering that can react and damage the finish.

Thanks everyone! John, I've had problem with the foam staining Nitro Cellulose paint. I may replace the foam with white cotton tape wrapped like a bicycle handlebar. I've done that in the past. Thanks Mike (digi2ns) and Jind for confirming that the short ones work OK for solid bodies. best regards, mike

Why do you want to hang your guitars? Did they commit a crime?
