Guitar workbench

My wife was kind enough to let me add a bench.
It was built with these thoughts...
It wouldn't be staying; it will eventually be in my
finishing shop that I have yet to build.
It would help keep some tools and stuff together-why there's a shelf...plus
some added strength. Back-side is enclosed.
for misc. work such as changing strings/ pickups..etc.
It would help protect the instrument.
It would be cheap to build and not take much time.
So with one sheet of plywood that I had them quarter - saved
me having to and was free- here's what happened.
Nothin fancy but worth a try.

The reason for the body support is I'm always laying tools down
or setting the guitar down on tools so I thought a platform may
help.

I'd suggest adding a saddle type attachment to rest the neck of the guitar in. It would stop any accidental knocking of the guitar off the table.

I think you are missing the obvious...you have too many guitars.

    I could help with that....

An adjustable neck support, like Randy mentions, might be a good idea. Maybe a "trough", a recessed area across the front of the top shelf for those stray tools?

Nah...just get rid of all those extra guitars....

Thanks guys. I have two saddles with cork.
I do have to make some more though...mine won't reach
    acoustics.
The rolled up carpet is cool in that it is easy to adjust and
I was impressed with stability ( had to say that so Bapu
    wouldn't get to worried lol.)

I think the one support that I don't have that will probably
be the best is a leather "sandbag".
I'll probably make a sandbag down the road.

Albert I guess you missed the shelf under the top. Lots of
    room for tools and such.
And you're right! If one can have too many. There's quite a few
in cases stored....crazy...I guess someday I might do that Ebay
    thing....................no, bad idea.

I should mention the biggest reason I posted this is
that I think having a raised platform, away from tools laying
    around is the best part.
I got the idea from Kramas. They have a false neck they bolt
on and suspend the body so it touches nothing.
I did it this way because I like neck-thru design.
