ORIGINAL: Jessie Sammler BTFS is a new nut. It's a shelf nut with a slight overhang. Frankly, I'd be very skeptical of a lawsuit claim by either company against the other. BTFS doesn't have the different shelf lengths for each string, and Earvana doesn't have the patented intonation offsets. If they work, they work. That's the first clear look at BFTS I've seen. Now I see. BFTS and Earvana use the same concepts, but execute them from opposite ends.

Whatever happened to just adjusting the intonation at the bridge? This seems like just another gimmick.

Both designs alter the bridge to nut setups and remove notes that are a hair sour here and there. I've used Earvana and I can say without fear of contradiction it's works quite well.

Buzz and Earvana both work to fix intonation. I tried the e-nut and it helped a lot, too, and it was uber cheap. It is a tall fret that you place right up against the nut, effectively adding a shelf to it. But you have to cut the nut notches deeper, so if you remove the e-nut you will have to have a new nut installed. I just wonder why the manufacturers don't fix the problem themselves by moving the nut a hair closer to the first fret? It would go a long way towards solving the inherent intonation problems with even-tempered fretted instruments. They already install compensated saddles in acoustic guitars, so why not install compensated nuts, too? Even if it is only an approximation depending on string gauge etc, it would be a big improvement.

My Fender was made in the USA, most high end guitars I've seen are also made in the USA, with the exception of ESP and Ibanez. Only the bottom end models are made in China. I'm guessing you have a lot of experience with Chinese guitars?

There seems to be some question as to whether you own (or play) any guitars at all.

You beat me by 9 seconds Enjoy Sonar 8! Make sure you get the patches. So far, my only real snag is it doesn't like FreeAmp2, which I use a lot.

Its been cool here but not terribly cold. At night its been just cool enough to frost, and during the day breezy and cool, about 5C or so. That's the weather on my planet.
